Primary Stages hosted its 2016 Gala celebrating the Horton Foote Centennial last night, October 17, 2016 at 6:30 pm at 583 Park Avenue. The even twas chaired by CharLes Davis, HAllie Foote, David Richenthal and Michael Wilson, and featured performances and tributes by Elizabeth Ashley, Harriet Harris, Jayne Houdyshell, Estelle Parsons (pictured, left) and Molly Ringwald. The winners of the First Annual Berkshire Theatre Awards have been announced. Seventeen arts journalists voted on 120 nominees in 25 categories chosen from artists in the 75 live theatre productions mounted in Berkshire County and adjacent areas between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016.
In the last twelve months, more than 300,000 people attended a live theatre production in or around Berkshire County. With 75 stage productions employing hundreds of professionals, making theatre is an important cog in the area's cultural economy. In fact, many consider the region a hot spot for Broadway bound shows, and a popular summer destination for theatre-goers from around the nation.

THE ROADS TO HOME is the first production in Primary Stages' 2016-17 season. In this collection of one-act plays, Horton Foote illustrates the lives of three Texan women in the 1920s as they struggle to understand what the concept of home means for each of them. THE ROADS TO HOME offers a rare chance to experience a Foote gem not seen on the New York stage in over 25 years and is directed by Foote's longtime collaborator, Michael Wilson.
Berkshire Theatre Group and Artistic Director/CEO, Kate Maguire presents Tennessee Williams' classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof featuring Michael Raymond-James as Brick. Michael Raymond-James starred in NBC's recent series, Game of Silence and is best known for his featured roles in True Blood and Once Upon a Time. His films include Black Snake Moan with Justin Timberlake and Jack Reacher with Tom Cruise. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof runs from June 22 through July 16, at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage in Stockbridge, MA.

Neil Genzlinger (New York Times) suggests that Raymond-James is 'scary good," in NBC's new series Game of Silence, adding that he 'injects a sense of ominous unpredictability into this well-made revenge thriller." In addition, Michael Raymond-James has appeared in hit shows such as, True Blood and Once Upon a Time, as well as the feature films, Black Snake Moan with Justin Timberlake, and Jack Reacher with Tom Cruise.

22Q Entertainment, has announced that Academy Award Nominee & Golden Globe Winner Kathleen Turner will be stepping in as director of the world premiere Off Broadway production WOULD YOU STILL LOVE ME IF… a love story that tackles the issue of gender identity. The production will also shift gears as Grammy Nominated Singer Deborah Cox has had to step down from her role due to increasing conflicts with the play's October performance schedule. Roya Shanks will take over the role for Ms. Cox and previews will begin on Saturday, September 26th at New World Stages. The official opening is set for Saturday, October 10th.
