The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, announced today the 54th Annual OBIE awards will take place on Monday, May 18,2009 at the newly landmarked Webster Hall in the East Village.
The OBIES will be co-hosted by Martha Plimpton and Daniel Breaker at an invitation-only ceremony. A list of notable presenters will be released soon.

The OBIES will be co-hosted by Martha Plimpton and Daniel Breaker at an invitation-only ceremony. Anne Hathaway, Brian d'Arcy James, Gavin Creel, Karen Olivo, John Shea, Kate Mulgrew, and Marc Kudisch will join the ceremony as presenters.

Hosts for the event include the former star of NBC-TV's Ed and Broadway's Urinetown, TOM CAVANAGH; former star of The Monkee's, Disney's Aida, and current CBS-FM radio personality MICKY DOLENZ; and former star of CBS-TV's The Jim Gaffigan Show, and FOX-TV's That 70's Show, comedian JIM GAFFIGAN. Featured Broadway performers include CHRISTOPHER SIEBER (Monty Python's Spamalot/ABC-TV's It's All Relative) ANDREA MCARDLE (original Annie/Les Miserables), STEPHEN BOGARDUS (Falsettos/Tony nominee for Love!Valour!Compassion), and BROOKE TANSLEY (currently starring as Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Beast).
