Chicago Theaters Prepare for the Fall Season; Chicago Shows Open In NYC

As Chicago theaters prepare for the fall season, the city has proven itself a leader on the national theater scene. Highlighted by two consecutive Pulitzer Prizes awarded to plays generated in Chicago-Tracy Letts' August: Osage County (Steppenwolf) and Lynne Nottage's Ruined (Goodman)-the Chicago theater season is poised to launch at home, while its influence is seen on Broadway.

Evans are proud to announce the 2009-2010 Northlight Season, which includes Roger Bean?s pop musical, The Marvelous Wonderettes; Stephen Temperley?s comedic musical tribute, Souvenir; Clifford Odets? Depression-era classic Awake & Sing! directed by Amy Morton and featuring Rondi Reed and Mike Nussbaum; Hugh Leonard?s Irish drama, A Life directed by BJ Jones, starring John Mahoney; and the world premier Low Down Dirty Blues, by Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman.

Burnham, Graae, Mayes Set For THE BEST IS YET TO COME: THE MUSIC Of CY COLEMAN

Rubicon Theatre Company has announced the cast and creative team for the World Premiere of THE BEST IS YET TO COME: THE MUSIC OF CY COLEMAN, which begins previews July 9 at Rubicon's intimate 200-seat home at 1006 E. Main Street in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District. The show continues Wednesdays through Sundays through August 2, 2009.

Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans announce the final selection for the 2009-2010 Northlight Season, the world premiere of Low Down Dirty Blues, by Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman, the creators of It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues and Fire on the Mountain. The production will feature two-time Jeff Award winner Mississippi Charles Bevel.

Denver Center Theater Announces 2009-2010 Season Line-up

With the announcement of the Denver Center Theatre Company's 2009/10 Season, Artistic Director Kent Thompson continues his company's mission of new play development by selecting three world premieres - including two Denver Center commissions - while sending a resounding message to Colorado and the nation that uncertain economic times call for new and classic plays that hold a special relevance for us. Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival Announces Lineup

The Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival (June Lindenmayer, Executive Director; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director) has announced the casting for the 2008 summer season of music, dance and theatre at the venerable performing arts camp and school in Steamboat Springs, CO. The 11th Annual New Works Festival begins workshops and classes June 11th, culminating June 20 - 22 with staged readings of the plays and a special dance presentation.
