Theatre Exile will present the third show of their 16th season with the Philadelphia premiere of The North Plan by Jason Wells. Directed by Exile's own Joe Canuso, of South Philadelphia, and featuring veteran Philadelphia actors Madi Distefano, Dan Hodge, Robert DaPonte, Aimé Donna Kelly, Carl Granieri and Mark Cairns. The North Plan will run from February 13 to March 3, with the official press opening on February 16 at 8pm.

The Douglas Morrisson Theatre (DMT) is excited to introduce GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES, the first production in the 2013-2014 BARE BONES staged reading series. The eccentrically amusing and affecting play by Rajiv Joseph was inspired by a barroom conversation the playwright had with a friend who shared wild stories about all the injuries he had as a child.

The Playwrights Foundation announces the 2013 Winter Rough Readings Series, January 14 - March 12, 2013 at Stanford University and in San Francisco. The winter readings series features: Chiori Miyagawa's This Lingering Life, January 14 & 15; Jonathan Spector's In From the Cold February 11 & 12 and Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig's The World of Extreme Happiness March 11 & 12.

Continuing its 25th Anniversary Season, Lookingglass Theatre Company presents the 2010 Pulitzer Prize Finalist Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, written by Rajiv Joseph and directed by Ensemble Member Heidi Stillman. One of the nation's leading programs for emerging playwrights -- Cherry Lane Theatre's award-winning MENTOR PROJECT -- celebrates its 15th anniversary this season with the production of four new plays by emerging writers -- each of whom is paired with an accomplished mentor playwright -- from February 20, 2012 to April 13 at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) in Manhattan. MENTOR PROJECT is the recipient of the Ross Wetzsteon Obie Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Development of New Work, along with the 2009 James Kirkwood Award for fostering and promoting the work of contemporary American playwrights.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced today that the Alley Theatre is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The Alley Theatre will receive a $50,000 grant to support the upcoming production of Kenneth Lin's Warrior Class as part of the Alley Theatre's New Play Initiative.

Are we at a sufficient remove from the last decade of wars in the Middle East to be able to step back and take an analytical view that is balanced or unbiased? In BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO, Rajiv Joseph's 2010 Pulitzer Prize Finalist play having its Boston premiere at Company One, the playwright addresses this challenge by asking a lot of questions without professing to know the answers. He leaves it to each member of the audience to draw their own conclusions.
