The event featured the presentation of the 2013 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award to Christopher Chen, a San Francisco-based playwright whose works include THE HUNDRED FLOWERS PROJECT and other plays. Christopher Chen -- a San Francisco-based playwright whose works include THE HUNDRED FLOWERS PROJECT and other plays - is the 2013 recipient of the Paula Vogel Playwriting Award, presented annually by Vineyard Theatre to an emerging playwright of exceptional promise, it has been announced by Douglas Aibel, Vineyard Theatre's Artistic Director and Sarah Stern, Co-Artistic Director.

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust today announced it will honor playwrights Annie Baker and Rajiv Joseph at the Sixth Annual Steinberg Playwright 'Mimi' Awards on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York. The Fu Manchu Complex, a play by Daniel York, will premiere at Ovalhouse today, 1 - 19 October 2013. Directed by Justin Audibert (Artistic Associate of HighTide and Associate of Told By An Idiot), this new work centres on the eponymous character in Sax Rohmer's Fu Manchu novels, the first of which was published 100 years ago in 1913.

ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER is an often amusing, thought provoking play about what happens when the lives of mismatched people collide in complicated ways that highlight hurt and the challenges of individuals who don't know who they are or how to be in the world. The Ensemble production doesn't quite reach the quality of the play's writing, but does hold attention and leaves the audience thinking.

Amphibian Stage Productions today announced casting for its final main stage production of the 2013 season, Death Tax by Lucas Hnath. Georgia Clinton, Stormi Demerson, John Forkner, and Laurel Whitsett will star in this dark comedy, running Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, November 10 at Amphibian's theater at 120 S. Main Street. Rene Moreno will direct the production.
