Steppenwolf Extends SLOWGIRL Through 9/1

By popular demand, Steppenwolf Theatre Company has extended the hit summer production of Slowgirl by Greg Pierce, directed by ensemble member Randall Arney, and featuring ensemble member William Petersen with Rae Gray. Slowgirl continues for six additional performances, through September 1. Tickets to the additional performances of Slowgirl ($20 - $78) go on sale today, August 6 at 11am through Audience Services (1650 N Halsted), at 312-335-1650 or at steppenwolf.org.

William Petersen Stars Alongside Rae Gray in Steppenwolf Theatre's SLOWGIRL, Now thru 8/25

This summer, Steppenwolf ensemble member-and former artistic director--Randall Arney returns to Chicago to stage Greg Pierce's hit play, Slowgirl, which premiered at Lincoln Center Theater in 2012. Arney reunites with fellow ensemble member William Petersen in the role of Sterling (the two first appeared on stage together in Steppenwolf's 1980 production of Balm in Gilead); the two-hander also includes Rae Gray (The Book Thief) as Becky. A playwright with 'impressive writing chops' who 'builds suspense, releases tension through laughs and grabs your attention with life-or-death stakes' (NY1), Pierce's plays later travels to Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, where Arney currently serves as artistic director, as part of the 2013/14 season.

Carle, Rob Fagin, Rae Gray, Dennis William Grimes, Nikki Klix, Ian Knox, Anthony-Jon LeSage, Clancy McCartney, Andy Monson, Mark Ulrich and Nicole Wiesner. The Book Thief runs October 16 - November 9, 2012 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St); the press performance is on October 21 at 3pm. Matinees Tuesday through Friday are reserved for school groups only, with Saturday and Sunday performances available to the public. Andy Monson, Mark Ulrich and More Join Steppenwolf's 2012-13 Season

Steppenwolf Theatre Company Artistic Director Martha Lavey announced today additional casting for the 2012/13 Subscription and Steppenwolf for Young Adults seasons. Will Allan, Keith Kupferer and Lusia Strus join previously announced ensemble members Alana Arenas, Mariann Mayberry and Molly Regan, completing the cast of the season opener, Good People. The cast of the Steppenwolf for Young Adults production of The Book Thief features ensemble member Francis Guinan with Patrick Andrews, Amy J. Carle, Rob Fagin, Rae Gray, Dennis William Grimes, Nikki Klix, Ian Knox, Anthony-Jon LeSage, Clancy McCartney, Andy Monson, Mark Ulrich and Nicole Wiesner. Other additions to the 2012/13 slate include Sandra Delgado, Sandra Marquez, John Ortiz and Gary Perez in The Motherf**ker with the Hat, and Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Glenn Davis and Jacqueline Williams in Head of Passes. Edward Torres has also signed on to direct the Steppenwolf for Young Adults production of How Long Will I Cry?: Voices of Youth Violence (previously titled Oral Histories) with Artistic Consultant Kelli Simpkins.

Eclipse Theatre's 2012 Eugene O'Neill Season Continues with AH, WILDERNESS, Opening 7/29

Eclipse Theatre Company (www.eclipsetheatre.com), the only theatre company in the Midwest to feature the works of one playwright in one season, continues their 2012 season featuring the works of legendary American playwright Eugene O'Neill with his romantic comedy, "Ah, Wilderness!" directed by Eclipse ensemble member Steve Scott. This will be the second of three productions by America's first great playwright.

Writers’ Theatre Adds Week of Performances for Stoppard’s The Real Thing

Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn Lipuma announce the second extension of The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard, directed by Michael Halberstam. The production, which opened the Theatre's 20th Season, now runs through December 4, 2011 at Writers' Theatre, 325 Tudor Court in Glencoe.
