The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee centers around a fictional spelling bee in Putnam Valley Middle School. Quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by equally quirky grown-ups. The 2005 Broadway production was nominated for six Tony Awards, and won two, including Best Book. As with the original Broadway production, this iteration will also involve audience participation. In honor of the fast-approaching day of love, BroadwayWorld.com thought we'd take a little time out of our busy schedules to go back a few decades. We caught up with Jill Iverson, who is playing Olive Ostrovsky in the Bloomington Civic Theatre production of THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. Grammy Award-nominated musician Nelson Gonzalez has joined the creative team of the upcoming Second Stage Theatre production of THE HAPPIEST SONG PLAYS LAST, written by 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner Quiara Alegria Hudes and directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Mr. Gonzalez, who is widely considered the master of the Cuban Tres guitar, will oversee the production's musical elements and will lead a live band during performances.

Bloomington Theatre and Art Center will bring back Striking 12, a Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) holiday production directed by Christine Weber. Performances are Friday, Dec. 13 - Sunday, Dec. 29 with a special performance on Dec. 31.

According to the offfcial website of the Connaught Theatre, the full tour, including stops in Barnstaple, Kettering, High Wycombe, Crawley, Blackpool, Jersey and Eastbourne have been cancelled due to a lack of funding.
