Ars Nova Kicks Off 2012 With THE URBAN DICTIONARY PLAYS, 2/1-11

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) will kick off its 2012 season with The Urban Dictionary Plays, by Ars Nova's Play Group. Set to play 10 performances only from February 1-11, this year's incarnation of Ars Nova's annual Play Group production features original short plays and live music inspired by the irreverent entries on urbandictionary.com.

The Flea Theater’s Hit #serials@theflea Returns for Cycle 3, Last Performance 8/20

Ars Nova now Accepting Applications for Play Group 2012

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) is now accepting applications for Play Group, a vibrant and eclectic group of emerging writers who gather twice a month at Ars Nova to share new work and get peer feedback. The group offers members the chance to develop their plays with peer support; to be inspired by each otherʼs work; to form collaborative relationships; and to build a strong sense of community within Ars Nova. All emerging playwrights are eligible for membership.

After 32 years, it seems as if every year, everyone and his agent sends a one-act play script to The Ensemble Studio Theatre for its annual marathon of one-act plays, the oldest, acclaimed one-act play festival in the country. This year is no exception with 886 one-act scripts totaling 21,264 pages which were read by 17 readers over 5 months. From that, Ensemble Studio Theatre artistic director William Carden selected 10 plays this spring to be presented on two separate programs for the Ensemble Studio Theatre's 2010 Marathon of One-Act Plays May 24 through June 26.
