Ars Nova now Accepting Applications for Play Group 2012

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) is now accepting applications for Play Group, a vibrant and eclectic group of emerging writers who gather twice a month at Ars Nova to share new work and get peer feedback. The group offers members the chance to develop their plays with peer support; to be inspired by each otherʼs work; to form collaborative relationships; and to build a strong sense of community within Ars Nova. All emerging playwrights are eligible for membership.

If selected, new members will be invited to join for a period of two years beginning in January of 2012. Play Group 2012 will culminate in a group-created production at Ars Nova in early 2013.

Play Group 2011 members include: Josh Allen, Chad Beckim, Rachel Bonds, Jenny Connell, Kara Lee Corthron, Jon Kern, Josh Koenigsberg, Molly Smith Metzler, Michael Mitnick, Kim Rosenstock, Sharyn Rothstein, and Joe Tracz.

Play Group alumni include: Annie Baker, Mike Batistick, Bekah Brunstetter, Evan Cabnet, Dylan Dawson, Kristoffer Diaz, Zayd Dohrn, Ron Fitzgerald, Liz Flahive, Sam Forman, Etan Frankel, Tasha Gordon-Solmon, Amy Herzog, Samuel D. Hunter, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Kyle Jarrow, Nick Jones, Steven Levenson, Barry Levey, Matthew Lopez, Liz Meriwether, Carly Mensch, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Gregory Moss, Janine Nabers, Rachel Shukert, Mat Smart, Aurin Squire, Adam Szymkowicz, Samuel Brett Williams and Beau Willimon.

Applications for Play Group 2012 will be accepted beginning August 1 and must be emailed to playgroup@arsnovanyc.com by September 1 to be eligible for consideration. Applications will only be accepted via email.
