Michael McDonald to Perform in Concert With Pacific Symphony Pops, 3/13-15

Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and keyboardist Michael McDonald lends his husky, soulful baritone to Pacific Symphony Pops for a concert featuring hits from his chart-topping career spanning more than four decades. From his 1970s beginnings singing back-up vocals with American rock band Steely Dan on songs including "Black Friday," to enhancing the funky R&B sound of The Doobie Brothers, to his award-winning solo career, McDonald has established himself as a timeless yet distinctive artist in pops music. One of the most popular vocalists to emerge from the '70s rock scene, McDonald commands the stage with his distinctive interpretations of classics like "What a Fool Believes," "On My Own," "Sweet Freedom," "I Keep Forgettin'," "Minute by Minute" and "Yah Mo B There." His more recent album, "Soul Speak," has been acclaimed as an "impeccable" crossover by BBC Radio since its release in 2008, when it also hit three different charts simultaneously.

Brian McCarthy Quintet Plays Middlebury's Town Hall Theater Tonight

Accomplished performer and formidable composer and arranger, saxophonist Brian McCarthy celebrates the release of his latest album, This Just In, in a concert at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater tonight, February 22. Along with trumpet veteran Ray Vega, and Quincy Jones Presents artist Justin Kauflin on piano, plus Evan Gregor on bass and drummer Quinn Blanford, the quintet comprises top jazz musicians from Vermont, New York, Virginia and New Jersey.

NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Chairman Bonnie Hammer today announced the newest classic in the ongoing Characters Unite Film Series to use the power of storytelling to increase awareness of social injustices, stimulate productive dialogue and encourage further progress. USA Network will commemorate Characters Unite Month and Black History Month by presenting 'In the Heat of the Night' with limited commercials on Saturday, February 15 at 9/8c. The film, which was groundbreaking in its powerful portrayal of racism in America and played a role in advancing the civil rights movement, won five Oscars including Best Picture. Film, television and music icon Quincy Jones, who composed the music for the film, will give a special introduction.

The Rachel Rosenthal Company (RRC) presents Instant Fairy Tales, a brand new series of original fairy tales for the 21st century at Espace DbD in Los Angeles. Instant Fairy Tales: The Longest Winter, the series' inaugural offering, which features an allegorical tale about learning to care for the environment, will be held on Saturdays, January 25 and February 8, as well as Sundays, January 26 and February 9, 2014. The performances, by Rachel Rosenthal Company's TOHUBOHU! Extreme Theatre Ensemble, begin at 4:00pm and 7:00pm on Saturdays, as well as at 2:00pm and 5:00pm on Sundays. Instant Fairy Tales are particularly well suited for children and families. Seating in the intimate performance space is limited to 35 patrons per show. Tickets cost $5.
