Queens Theatre (QT) is proud to announce the launch of their first annual Summer Musical Theatre Program for kids ages 7 to 14 - SHOWSTOPPERS ! In just two weeks, rising young stars will create and perform an original pocket-sized musical play. The Theatre's program takes students through the entire of process of creating a musical play from auditions to writing and rehearsing, culminating in a performance on their Mainstage. SHOWSTOPPERS Summer Musical Theatre Program begins July 21st and runs through August 15th at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY 11368). The Society of American Magicians, Parent Assembly Number 1, in association with Queens Theatre, will present the 105th Annual Salute to Magic, commemorating the role of magic in the 50th and 75th anniversaries of the 1964 and 1939 New York World's Fairs. The performance will be tonight, May 17, 2014 at 8:00pm at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY 11368).

Queens based Titan Theatre Company opened it's final production of it's Award Winning and Critically Acclaimed second season on Friday April 25th, 2014 with the opening of its highly anticipated adaptation of Shakespeare's Epic KING LEAR. The production, which stars Broadway vet Terry Layman in the title role and is made possible through a generous grant from the Queens Council for the Arts, will runs thru May 11, 2014 at the Queens Theatre, the borough's premiere performing arts venue, located in beautiful Flushing Meadows Park. Gina McKee Joins Martin Freeman In Cast Of RICHARD III

Gina McKee (Di & Viv & Rose, King Lear, Ivanov, Our Friends In The North, Notting Hill) will play Queen Elizabeth, alongside the previously announced Martin Freeman (Clybourne Park, The Hobbit, Sherlock, Fargo) as Richard III in Jamie Lloyd's first production of his second season at Trafalgar Transformed, Richard III, running from 1 July to 27 September, with press night on 8 July.

2014 marks Queens Theatre's 25th Anniversary Season which coincides with the 50th and 75th anniversaries of the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs. In celebration Queens Theatre will produce THE WORLD?S FAIR PLAY FESTIVAL (WFPF), a presentation of ten original ten-minute plays inspired by the 1939 and 1964 World?s Fairs. Both World?s Fairs brought families, friends and total strangers together from around the country and across the world to experience a vision for the future in performances, exhibitions and art. The Theaterama, in which Queens Theatre is housed, is one of only three buildings constructed for the 1964 World's Fair that is still standing.

NYC Parks' Queens Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski today joined Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, Assemblywoman Margaret Markey and National Trust for Historic Preservation board member Paul Goldberger to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening ceremony of the 1964-65 World's Fair and announce that Flushing Meadows Corona Park's New York State Pavilion, one of the most iconic remnants of the 1964 World's Fair, has been named as one of the Trust's "National Treasures." The National Treasures program recognizes historically, culturally and architecturally important sites to raise awareness and funding for their preservation. The Pavilion is one of only 44 sites in the country to bear this designation.
