Martha Argerich Withdraws From Recital at Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall today announced that pianist Martha Argerich has withdrawn from her duo-recital with violinist Itzhak Perlman on Thursday, March 22 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. Ms. Argerich-who was scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall as part of a six-concert US tour-has withdrawn from all upcoming US tour engagements this spring due to family and health problems. "I am very sorry having to cancel my upcoming tour in the United States with Itzhak Perlman, whom I deeply admire and with whom I love playing," said Ms. Argerich. "Because of family and health problems, I cannot for the moment travel far and for extensive periods of time away from my home in Europe. Thank you very, very much for your understanding."

Rhiannon Giddens, Toshi Reagon, And Young Paris To Join A TIME LIKE THIS: MUSIC FOR CHANGE

Carnegie Hall today announced that Rhiannon Giddens, Toshi Reagon, and Young Paris will join Broadway's Carrie Compere (The Color Purple) as guest artists for A Time Like This: Music for Change, a special concert on Sunday, March 11 at 3:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage hosted by Def Jam Poetry veteran Lemon Andersen and featuring a nineteen-piece band led by Kenny Seymour (Amazing Grace, Memphis). The performance also features singers Sarah Elizabeth Charles, Emily Eagen, and Emeline Michel.

Low Cut Connie Announces DIRTY PICTURES (PART 2) On The Way This Spring

On May 18, Low Cut Connie will release Dirty Pictures (Part 2) via Contender Records. For their fifth and most fully-realized album to date, the band travelled from their home turf of South Philadelphia to the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN where they cut their critically-acclaimed 2017 release Dirty Pictures (Part 1). Today, NPR Music premeries 'Beverly,' the first single to be released from the forthcoming album.

Brooklyn Center For The Performing Arts Presents ALICIA OLATUJA

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2017-18 Kumble Theater season with jazz singer/songwriter Alicia Olatuja. Drawing from a wide range of musical influence including classical, R&B, soul, and gospel, this Brooklyn resident brings her scintillating jazz stylings to Brooklyn's Kumble Theater, including a preview of selections from her yet-to-be-released second album, Intuition: Songs from the Minds of Women. Jacob's Pillow announces the return of The National Dance Presenters Forum at Jacob's Pillow, organized with key partners in response to field-wide demand and in support of the Pillow's commitment to facilitate and host discourses in dance development as outlined in its five-year strategic plan, Vision '22. The National Dance Presenters Forum was first established at Jacob's Pillow in August 1996 and was held annually through 2006. The forum was widely recognized for its lasting impact on the professional development of performing arts presenters and the national growth and interest in the presentation and touring of dance.

Museum Of Natural History Continues ONE STEP BEYOND with A Celebration Of Bay Area Hip-Hop

The American Museum of Natural History's One Step Beyond on Friday, February 23, celebrates California's Bay Area hip-hop culture with DJs from the region, DJ D Sharp, DJ Mind Motion, and Tap. 10, hosted by bay area native Sway Calloway (MTV/SiriusXM). From hip-hop's beginnings to its current status as a cultural behemoth, the Bay Area has contributed mightily to the art form and its global influence, producing icons such as E-40, 2 Pac, Mac Dre, and groups like Hieroglyphics, Quannum, and The Heartbreak Gang. The Bay Area continues to be a key part of today's global hip-hop community, and this event is a celebration of its many musical contributions. The event will take place in the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Hall of the Universe.

MOTOWN The Musical Comes To Edinburgh Playhouse

Motown the Musical will embark on a major UK and Ireland tour opening at the Birmingham New Alexandra Theatre on 11 October 2018 where it will play until 3 November 2018 before visiting Leeds Grand Theatre (6 17 November 2018), Edinburgh Playhouse (20 November 8 December 2018), Bristol Hippodrome (10 January 2 February 2019), Bord Gais Energy Theatre Dublin (5 - 23 February 2019), Manchester Opera House (26 February 23 March 2019) and Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff (26-March - 6 April 2019).
