Tony Award-nominee Michael Arden has just concluded a weeklong research and development session led by Broadway and television star Tituss Burgess, Tony Award-winners Steve Kazee and Marissa Jaret Winokur, and Tony Award-nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse), in advance of a new production of the Stephen Sondheim masterwork Merrily We Roll Along, set to hit the stage of the Bram Goldsmith Theater at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts November 22, 2016 through December 18, 2016. Casting for the fall production will be announced at a later date. Check out photos from the session below!

Silk Road Rising, Golden Thread Productions, and Lark Play Development Center are proud to announce that Mona Mansour, author of Urge for Going, The Hour of Feeling and The Way West, has been chosen to receive the 2014 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award. Honorable mentions went to playwrights Bianca Bagatourian, Ismail Khalidi, Daria Polatin, Mishael Shulman and Zohar Tirosh-Polk.

Soulstice Theatre is at it again. Seattle-based playwright Yussef El Guindi, author of numerous plays including Our Enemies (Osborn Award), Back of the Throat and Jihad Jones and the Kalashnikov Babes, has been selected to receive the 2010 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award. Honorable mentions went to playwrights Nastaran Ahmadi, Denmo Ibrahim, Ken Kaisser, Mona Mansour, and Heather Raffo.

Honorable mentions went to playwrights Nastaran Ahmadi, Denmo Ibrahim, Ken Kaisser, Mona Mansour, and Heather Raffo. The prize, which is granted every other year to an American writer of a Middle Eastern background by a consortium composed of San Francisco's Golden Thread Productions, New York's Lark Play Development Center, and Chicago's Silk Road Theatre Project, comes with a $10,000 commission to write a new play of the author's choice, artistic development support for two years and possible productions at both Silk Road and Golden Thread.

One of the most unique entertainment venues in the area, combining fine dining with first-class live theatrical performances, the Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre is ready to unveil its 2010 Season. After the success of its 15th Anniversary Season in 2009, with a line-up that included a regional theatre premiere production of the musical comedy The Wedding Singer, Andrew Lloyd Webber's mega-sensation Cats, and the area premiere of Mel Brook's The Producers, WOB is setting its sights on fun and laughs for the 2010 Season.

The three theater organizations from across the nation, Golden Thread Productions in San Francisco, the Lark Play Development Center in New York, and Silk Road Theatre Project in Chicago, who formed Middle East America (MEA): A National New Plays Initiative have awarded the 2008 Middle East America Distinguished Playwright Award to Adriana Sevan.
