Theatre World Awards for Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut performances during the 2008-2009 theatrical season will be presented by former Theatre World Award winners, including: Craig Bierko (The Music Man, 2000), Daniel Breaker(Passing Strange, 2008), Kristin Chenoweth (Steel Pier, 1997), Tovah Feldshuh (Yentl, 1976),Susan Kellermann (Last Licks, 1980), Loretta Ables Sayre (South Pacific, 2008), and John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, 2004).

The cast and creative team of the hit Broadway musical HAIR, including Tony Award nominee director Diane Paulus joined friends and fans for the release party launch of the Ghostlight Records New Broadway Cast Recording of HAIR. The celebration took place onTuesday, May 26, 2009 at Bumble and bumble which is located at 415 West 13th Street (between 9th Ave and Washington St.). BroadwayWorld's cameras were there for the festive 'love-in' with the cast.

Wendy Kesselman's 'The Black Monk', which ran Off-Broadway from November 30th, 2008 through January 3rd, 2009, featuring Austin Pendleton, Elon Rutberg, Julie Craig, and Scott Robertson - under the direction of Kevin Newbury and musical direction of Chris Berg (with cellist Arthur Cook), will be making an original cast recording on Monday, May 25th, 2009. The album will be produced/engineered by Grammy Award winner John Kilgore. It will be released online in the fall exclusively on iTunes, and a record deal is pending.

'The Leading Men IV,' a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, was held Monday, May 11, at 7pm at Birdland, 315 W. 44th St. As part of the long-running Broadway at Birdland series, it featured top singers from Broadway and cabaret. John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Shrek The Musical) once again hosted, and Emmy-nominated writer, host and comic Seth Rudetsky returned as musical director, along with director Alan Muraoka (NAATCO's Falsettoland).

The winners of the 2009 Touring Broadway Awards were revealed in a special Awards Ceremony during The Broadway League's annual Spring Road Conference at the Hilton New York in Manhattan. Playbill and Sirius XM Radio's Seth Rudetsky announced the awards. Three officers from the League's Kids Advisory Board presented The Audience Choice Award.
