NAMT's 2014 Festival of New Musicals Continues This Weekend

The National Alliance For Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today its selections for the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals. Beautiful Poison, Cubamor, Great Wall, How To Break, Mary Marie, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, String and Stu For Silverton make up the eight new musicals that will be presented at the 26th Annual Festival of New Musicals today, October 23, 2014 and Friday, October 24, 2014 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

MURDER FOR TWO Begins Tonight at the CLO Cabaret

Pittsburgh CLO has announced the Pittsburgh Premiere of the Off-Broadway sensation Murder For Two, today, October 22-January 18 at the CLO Cabaret. Everyone is a suspect in this exciting production where classic musical comedy meets Agatha Christie.

Photo Flash: First Look at Point Park University's '21'

Point Park University's Conservatory Theatre Company presents the world premiere of a new musical -- '21' -- about the life of the legendary Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente. The show begins tonight, Oct. 17 and runs through April 26, 2015, at the Pittsburgh Playhouse in the city's Oakland neighborhood. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Pittsburgh CLO Academy Students to Perform ANYTHING GOES, 11/15

Pittsburgh CLO Academy is proud to announce that its students will perform Anything Goes at the New Hazlett Theater on November 15 at 2:00 & 7:00pm. The cast members are all enrolled in the school's Musical Theater Production class and are being directed by Pittsburgh CLO Academy faculty members Justin Fortunato, Scott Sambuco, and Bob Neumeyer.

HOT METAL MUSICALS Inaugural Showcase to Kick Off March 2 at the CLO Cabaret

Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce Hot Metal Musicals, the group's first ever showcase of new musical theatre work. Hot Metal Musicals will feature the work of member writers, composers and lyricists and will also include work by special guest artists with ties to Pittsburgh. Free and open to the public, the showcase will be presented in cooperation with the Pittsburgh CLO on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 7:15pm at the CLO Cabaret Theater at Theatre Square, 655 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Michael L. Marra to Star in OLIVER! at Strand Theater

MICHAEL L. MARRA ("Les Mis," Broadway & 4th National Tour, and "Jekyll & Hyde" 1st National Tour) stars as "Bill Sykes" in "Oliver!" at The Strand Theater in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA just 25 miles north of the city's central theatre district. While in rehearsal for this momentous event in the development of the growing Strand Theater, SHANE TRELOAR, who is playing "The Dodger" has been cast in the National Tour of "Elf" in the role of "Michael," to begin rehearsals October 7, the week following the closing of "Oliver!" And touring the Eastern United States through the holidays.

Rehearsals begin today, Monday, September 22, for the upcoming world premiere of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS prior to its engagement at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris where previews will begin Saturday, November 22, 2014 for a Wednesday, December 10, 2014 opening night. The Broadway run of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS will begin previews Friday, March 13, 2015 for a Sunday, April 12, 2015 opening night at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street).

PICT's 'SONS OF ULSTER' Coincides with 2014 Centennial of WWI; Runs Now thru 9/20

PICT Classic Theatre's Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme, by Frank McGuinness, opens just about 100 years after the historical WWI events that are authentically portrayed in the performance. Running today, September 4, through September 20 at the Stephen Foster Memorial, the play, appropriate for ages 12+, leaves audiences with a better emotional understanding of events that changed the course of millions of lives and a sense of the surprising ways that WWI continues to shape the world today.

Broadway Vet Victoria Mallory Dies at 64

BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed the sad news this morning that actress Victoria Mallory died on August 30, 2014 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She leaves behind her husband (and former A Little Night Music co-star) Mark Lambert, and daughter Ramona Mallory Lambert, also an actress.
