THE ISLAND OF DOCTOR MOREAU to Play 59E59 Theatre's East to Edinburgh, 7/10-14

To celebrate and give local audiences a peek at the enormous creative beehive that is Edinburgh Fringe, Piper is pleased to take part in 59E59's Edinburgh Festival Fringe Preview: East to Edinburgh, with three performances of The Island of Dr. Moreau in Manhattan at 59E59's Theatre C on July 10, 13 and 14. These will be the only New York previews of Moreau before its August 11-25th residency in Edinburgh.

In Piper Plays: Smart Plays for Young Actors Playwriting Festival and Compeition, Piper Theatre and Piper Plays will present 9 new one-act plays that explore the world of children. The festival, Smart Plays for Young Actors, is the culmination of a nationwide playwriting contest and runs today, June 15 and June 16 and 17, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the BAX Brooklyn Arts Exchange (421 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY). The plays presented have been chosen from over 100 entrants from throughout the United States and Canada. All of the presented plays will be either New York or world premieres.

New Repertory Theatre, in residence at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, is excited to be a part of the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of afterlife: a ghost story. Steve Yockey's poetic play follows a young couple in the process of grieving, who tumble into an alternate reality, are forced to confront the ghosts that haunt them, and ultimately must decide what their afterlife will be. Directed by Kate Warner, afterlife: a ghost story will open for the press on Monday, January 17, 2011 and run through Sunday, February 6, 2011 in the Charles Mosesian Theater.

Village Theatre KIDSTAGE's Preschool Arts Adventures is now registering for the winter session. This two-day-a-week program offers an enriching, creative learning environment for your preschool aged child to embark on a journey of imagination and discovery.

Village Theater KIDSTAGE Announces Its Winter Line-up

Village Theatre KIDSTAGE is proud to announce its winter line-up of exploratory and musical theatre classes for students of all ages, including but not limited to 'Creative Chronicles' for children as young as Pre-K, 'Musical Moves,' and a 'Broadway Foundations' class utilizing music from the silly hit Seussical to enhance performance technique. The majority of Everett classes begin in late January 2009 and there will be no classes held on February 16, 17 and 19, 2009. Classes range from $125-$200 and parents can receive a 10 percent discount when registering more than one student from the same family or when registering for more than one class. One discount per family. Each registered student will also receive one half-price single ticket to any Village Theatre Mainstage production. Registration forms are available online at www.villagetheatre.org or by calling Village Theatre's Youth Education office at (425) 247-6371. EVERETT KIDSTAGE Winter Classes at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Avenue, Everett, WA EARLY STAGES - LITERATURE AND LIFE SKILLS (PRE-K-GRADE 2): Early Stages are literature-based exploratory classes that foster confidence by building theatre and life skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Process over product is emphasized. Developmentally appropriate exercises and activities teach beginning terminology and theatre skills in every class. Students also learn valuable life skills such as taking turns, listening, speaking up, and being part of a team - all in a safe atmosphere where it is easy to make new friends. Classes are offered year-round and have a different theme each session. A final class demonstration for family and friends is held on the last day of each class.
