OTHELLO, TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA and THE LIAR Set for Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's 2014 Season

The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (HVSF) announces the three plays that will run in repertory during the Company's 28th season: Othello, directed by Associate Artistic Director Christopher V. Edwards, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by HVSF newcomer Eric Tucker, and David Ives' hilarious adaptation of Pierre Corneille's comedy, The Liar, directed by HVSF veteran Russell Treyz.

Cornish College Honors Tony Kushner and Deborah F. Rutter at 2014 Commencement Today

President Nancy J. Uscher has announced that Cornish College of the Arts will award honorary degrees at this year's commencement to ground-breaking American playwright Tony Kushner and to Deborah F. Rutter, president-elect of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Mr. Kushner is the winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony and Emmy Awards, and a recipient of the National Medal for Arts. One of the nation's leading arts administrators, Ms. Rutter assumes leadership of the Kennedy Center in September. Most recently she has served as president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and, prior to that, she was the executive director of the Seattle Symphony.

Honesty may be the best policy, but it's not the most fun one. Thank God 16th century playwright Pierre Corneille and modern day playwright David Ives have an affinity for the truth-challenged. Ives's modern take on Corneille's classic French comedy The Liar is an exhilarating and side-splitting mix of the old and new, and Austin Playhouse's production of it reminds us just how exceptional the Austin theater community is.

TCG Releases Revised, Complete Edition of ANGELS IN AMERICA

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of a Revised and Complete Edition of Angels in America by Tony Kushner. Available in both paperback and hardcover, this new edition contains both Part One: Millennium Approaches and Part Two: Perestroika in the revised versions that were performed in the 2010 Off-Broadway revival, as well as a new author's introduction.
