The Smith Center Celebrates Five Years With Commemorative Anniversary Concert

Last night (March 7, 2017), The Smith Center for the Performing Arts celebrated its milestone Fifth Anniversary with a sold-out, commemorative concert featuring Broadway favorites, local talents and more. Emceed by Broadway veterans and stars of THE LAST FIVE YEARS Adam Kantor (FIDDLER ON THE ROOF) and Betsy Wolfe (BULLETS OVER BROADWAY) each talked about the last five years at The Smith Center. Featured performers included Brent Barrett (PHANTOM - THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR), Santino Fontana (CINDERELLA) and Jessica Fontana (IDAHO! THE COMEDY MUSICAL), Chandra Lee Schwartz (WICKED), Teller of Penn and Teller, Nate Dendy (THE TEMPEST), Christopher Convery (KINKY BOOTS), J. Elaine Marcos (MISS SAIGON), Christine Hudman (IDAHO! THE COMEDY MUSICAL), Ashley Loren (BAZ - STAR CROSSED LOVE), Randal Keith (LES MISERABLES), Bruce Ewing (PHANTOM - THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR), Alex Ellis (IDAHO! THE COMEDY MUSICAL), Joan Sobel (PHANTOM - THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR), and Nicole Pryor Dernersesian (PHANTOM - THE LAS VEGAS SPECTACULAR) presented under the musical direction of Keith Thompson. Additionally, Las Vegas favorite Clint Holmes joined GRAMMY® and Tony®-nominated composer Frank Wildhorn onstage for an unforgettable performance of 'This Is the Moment.'

GOD LIVES IN GLASS Concert Set for The Smith Center, 11/15

Many of Las Vegas' finest entertainers will join hearts and voices at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts for one performance only of the hit musical theatre concert God lives In Glass in Reynolds Hall on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. to benefit the center's education and outreach programs. The popular concert features a funny, powerful, emotionally uplifting, and original score written by Jersey Boys conductor and Composer's Showcase founder/host Keith Thompson with musical styles ranging from pop to gospel, classical to blues, and reggae to R&B. Inspired by Dr. Robert J. Landy's book 'God Lives in Glass: Reflections of God Through the Eyes of a Child,' which features drawings and stories of children from all over the world, God Lives in Glass is great entertainment for the entire family.

Broadway performer and BackStage Bistro Award-winning recording artist Rebecca Spencer will celebrate her Palm Springs concert debut with a performance on Sunday, August 9 at 2:00pm, part of the Summer Series at the Arthur Newman Theatre in Palm Desert, CA. Unique arrangements that fuse both classical etudes as well as contemporary expressions of the art song, with the romantic American Songbook, Broadway, film and popular music, have become Rebecca's signature. The former Walter Busterkeys inspired the glitz and glamour of many a performer including current day music icons Elton John and Lady GaGa. The celebration is called 'Music, Memories and The Mansion: A Night with Liberace' to benefit Opera Las Vegas, a nonprofit company dedicated to bringing world-class opera to Southern Nevada.

She charmed critics like Las Vegas Sun columnist John Katsilometes, who called her 'a graceful performer whose voice is at once lilting and limitless,' and Desert Companion magazine, which named her Best Torch Singer earlier this year. Now Kristen Hertzenberg returns to Cabaret Jazz at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts tonight, September 27 at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Backed by an eight-piece band, Hertzenberg unveils Spellbound, a love-haunted set of blues, rock, jazz, folk, and country.
