Photo Flash: Dance Against Cancer Raises Over $200,000 for the American Cancer Society

Dance Against Cancer raised more than $200,000 for the American Cancer Society on Monday, May 5, 2014. Proceeds from the evening will benefit research initiatives and patient and family service programs. More than 500 guests attended the fourth annual Dance Against Cancer. VIP guests enjoyed cocktails, preferred seating, and a gift bag in addition to the performance and post-event reception. The performance featured new work by Brian Reeder created for American Ballet Theatre's Isabella Boylston with New York City Ballet's Chase Finlay and Amar Ramasar, Paul Taylor Dance Company in its first appearance at the benefit, Charles 'Lil Buck' Riley performed with students from National Dance Institute, and included the NYC premiere of Justin Peck's Sea Change. Now, to celebrate today's (November 26) release of Walker's lost studio session from 1970, and his first solo guitar record with vocals, 'Has Anybody Seen Our Freedoms?', on Delmore Recording Society, he is proud to announce that he will be making his first NYC area live performance in seven years (and only show this year) on 12/18 at Union Pool in Brooklyn.

There's a lot 'two' know, when it comes to GMT's two-week International Theatre Series: The inaugural International Theatre Series opens, at The Forge, in Marryatville High School, today. Although there are 5 different shows - BOND! An Unauthorised Parody; Crusoe; Nelson - The Sailor's Story; Spitfire:Solo and The Six-Sided Man - there are only two actors.

N-Y Historical Society Commemorates 9/11 With Special Exhibition

One month after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the New-York Historical Society committed its resources to a new initiative called, History Responds, with exhibitions, public events and educational initiatives. Since then, the Society has presented 17 special exhibitions relating to the attacks, 20 public programs, five community meetings, numerous school and teacher programs and, when the Society's newly-renovated headquarters reopens on November 11, 2011, a permanent installation of photographs and other materials donated by survivors, witnesses, and rescuers.
