Today Rolex announced that acclaimed director Peter Sellars has selected Maya Zbib of Lebanon as his protégé for the 2010-11 Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. The program gives exceptional young talents in dance, music, visual arts, theater, literature, and film the opportunity of a lifetime-to work with a master in their field for a year of creative collaboration. Over the next year Sellars and Zbib will spend up to several months together, exchanging ideas and engaging in an extended dialogue about their art form. The other five protégés (profiled below) include another artist from the Middle East, two from Australia, one from South Africa, and one from the United States. Joining Sellars as a 2010-11 Rolex Mentor are Trisha Brown, Brian Eno, Anish Kapoor, Hans Magnus Enzensberger and Zhang Yimou.
