Matías Tarnopolsky, Director of Cal Performances, the internationally distinguished arts presenter based on the campus of UC Berkeley, announces the 2011-2012 season featuring the United States premiere of the Desdemona project, a new work by Peter Sellars and Toni Morrison, inspired by Othello; a three-concert residency by the Mariinsky Orchestra of St. Petersburg performing the six Tchaikovsky symphonies; and the Cal Performances debuts of actor John Malkovich in The Infernal Comedy: Confessions of a Serial Killer, a work that combines theater, opera and music, and countertenor Philippe Jaroussky.

The film is based on the DC Comics superhero and will be directed by Martin Campbell and produced by DonaldDe Line and Greg Berlanti. Berlanti also wrote the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green. Rewrites were done by Michael Goldenberg and the release is set for June 17th.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale explores England's grand choral tradition through the ages with 'London Bridges,' an all-British program conducted by Music Director Grant Gershon featuring the music of William Byrd, Judith Weir, John Tavener and Benjamin Britten, as well as a selection of English madrigals, on Sunday, January 30, 2011, 7:00 p.m., at Disney Hall. Lesley Leighton, appointed Assistant Conductor of the chorus in July 2010, makes her Los Angeles Master Chorale conducting debut leading Hymn to St. Cecelia, one of two Britten works to be spotlighted. Organist Paul Meier is the guest artist.
