The Cleveland Orchestra has announced a new five-year extension of Franz Welser-Möst's contract as Music Director, continuing a partnership that began in 2002 to 2027. The announcement was made at Severance Hall in Cleveland at the Gala Concert opening the Orchestra's 2019-20 season.

DuPage Chorale, under the direction of Lee R. Kesselman, with the DuPage Chorale Orchestra performs “Americana” a concert featuring works by Amy Beach and Randall Thompson at the McAninch Arts Center Sunday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m

The Houston Symphony announced today the international release of the live recording of Haydn-The Creation on the Dutch classical music label Pentatone. The CD is now available for purchase through houstonsymphony.org. Digital downloads are available through Amazon.

Director Frank Castorf makes his house debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper with Leoš Janaek's last opera, From the House of Dead. Frank Castorf has already staged a large part of the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky at the Volksbuhne in Berlin. Simone Young conducts another premiere at the Bayerische Staatsoper following the new production of Palestrina (2009).

Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, set during the reign of the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa, is a bittersweet tale of love lost and found. Sweeping waltzes, unsurpassed ensembles—especially the gorgeous final trio—and stunning orchestration bring Hugo von Hofmannsthal's witty libretto to life. Rhapsodic, comic, and deeply moving, Der Rosenkavalier is Strauss's crowning operatic achievement.

German Maestro Kirill Petrenko leads the Bayerisches Staatsorchester and Staatsoper in their United States debut performances at Carnegie Hall over two consecutive evenings this March. Making a rare New York City appearance, Mr. Petrenko steps onto the Carnegie Hall stage for the first time as General Music Director of the Bayeriche Staatsoper and its orchestra. On Wednesday, March 28 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, Mr. Petrenko and the Staatsorchester present Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony, and are joined by violinist Julia Fischer and cellist Daniel Müller-Schott for Brahms's Double Concerto in A Minor.

The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Möst announce further details of their new production of Debussy's Pelléas and Mélisande, including the complete three-part series of behind-the-scenes production videos.  The impressionistic French opera, with its luminous and hypnotic score, is being presented at Severance Hall May 2, 4, and 6, 2017.  The creative team for this brand-new, made-for-Cleveland production is being led by Director Yuval Sharon working with Set Designer Mimi Lien, Lighting and Projection Designer Jason Thompson, Choreographer Danielle Agami, and Costume Designer Ann Closs-Farley.

The Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series presents two different lineups of innovative theater makers, choreographers and musicians for the second installment of its WINTRY MIX/PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL, a curated sampler of new works of performing arts.
