BROADWAY BALLYHOO has announced its cast for this Thursday, September 20th at 11 p.m. at Feinstein's at Loews Regency. THE NEW BLACK FEST, a festival of theater, music and discussion from the African Diaspora will launch its 3rd season in October at various locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. With support from TimeWarner and a partnership with 651 ARTS, the Festival will take place October 8 - 13 at various locations, including the National Black Theatre, Mark Morris Dance Center, the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Education Center. Continuing its commitment to nurturing and producing the next generation of musical theatre artists, Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has awarded its first annual Donna Perret Rosen Award for excellence in musical theatre to composer/lyricist Adam Gwon. The $10,000 award was established at the off-Broadway company's 2011 gala to honor Second Stage Theatre trustee Donna Perret Rosen in recognition of her long-standing commitment to young artists and new works. The award was chosen by Tony Award winners James Lapine, Susan Stroman, and Jack Viertel.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today that Tony nominee Nancy Opel and Tony winner and NAMT alum Joe DiPietro (O. Henry's Lovers '98) will host the NAMT Songwriters Showcase as part of the 24th Annual Festival of New Musicals on Friday, October 12 from 1:20-2:30pm at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, musical theatre legend Andrew Lloyd Webber is currently working on writing a new musical about the Profumo affair, which went down almost 50 years ago. Llyoyd Webber told the Telegraph on the political scandal: 'He was a scapegoat. They had to find a crime to fit him. And since MI6 said there was no security risk, why is it a closed file till 2046?'

According to The Press Association, Andrew Lloyd Webber has revealed that he has not yet sealed a deal to do another reality series for ITV. Said Webber, 'That could be two years off, but what I can say is I'm in discussions to do a special with ITV after Superstar.'

TVGuide.com reports that Bryan Cranston and Catherine O'Hara will guest star in the upcoming final season of NBC's 30 ROCK. The duo will portay relatives of hillbilly NBC page Kenneth Parcell (Jack McBrayer) in the long-running comedy.

BROADWAY BARES XXII: HAPPY ENDINGS, a fairytale evening of modern-day burlesque featuring 227 of New York's sexiest dancers, made history for the third year in a row on June 17, by raising a record-breaking $1,254,176 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. One of the evening's performances was the story of "The Ugly Duckling" called 'Ugly Duckling (It Gets Better)' set to Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way', which took on bullying as Brandon Rubendall helped Adar Wellington embrace both her inner and outer beauty in a moving piece choreographed by Nick Kenkel. According to Indiewire, Spike Lee wants to make a film adaptation of the George Gershwin musical Porgy and Bess and has confirmed that negotiations are 'still in the works.' The Tony Award-winning revival starring Norm Lewis, Audra McDonald and David Alan Grier is currently playing on Broadway.

Stars of the long-running musical Tony Award-winning musical AVENUE Q -- including the beloved puppets Trekkie Monster, Princeton, Mrs. T, Lucy, and their fellow human actors -visited the Wildlife Conservation Society's Bronx Zoo in support of Wildlife Conservation. The actors attended a performance of the zoo musical AVENUE ZOO in which AVENUE Q star Kate Monster is making a special appearance this summer at the Bronx Zoo.
