Evan Rachel Wood Confirms SPIDER-MAN Musical Role on Oscar Red Carpet

It has been fairly common knowledge in industry circles that Evan Rachel Wood has been cast as 'Mary Jane' in the upcoming SPIDER-MAN musical, but on the E! Network Oscar Red Carpet pre-show the young actress and star of the Oscar nominated The Wrestler revealed that her next project is 'a new Julie Taymor musical on Broadway'.

U2's The Edge Reveals More on 'SPIDER-MAN' Musical

UK's The Sun spoke to U2's The Edge and he revealed new information on the upcoming 'SPIDER-MAN The Musical'. Along with his partner and U2 frontman Bono, The Edge discussed how the two have been working with Tony winning director Julie Taymor and scriptwriter Glenn Berger on the project.

SPIDER-MAN Musical 'Swings' Closer to Broadway Debut

The UK TimesOnline site is reporting that SPIDERMAN may be ready to battle his most powerful foe of all - the Broadway slump. The news service reports the the musical based on the Marvel comic book hero, written by Bono and the Edge from U2, will indeed take residency in the Hilton Theatre early next year as the chilly wind of a US recession blows through the theatre district of New York City.

Wood Reportedly Cast as 'Mary Jane' in SPIDER-MAN Musical

Film site IESB.net reports that Evan Rachel Wood has been cast as 'Mary Jane' in the upcoming SPIDERMAN musical, it reports that rehearsals will begin in June 2009. The website also reveals that her 'Across The Universe co-star Jim Sturgess, long rumored to play Peter Parker/Spiderman is still a possibility, but has to be 'convinced'.

Marvel Says Spider-Man 'May Hit Broadway' in 2009

Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel told an audience at the Thomas Weisel Consumer Conference in New York that the Spider-Man musical might at last hit Broadway next year. The show has been in the works for three and a half years, with casting calls this summer heating things up.
