The Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre's 50th Anniversary Season comes to a festive close with the return of everyone's favorite Sisters of Hoboken in NUNCRACKERS: THE NUNSENSE CHRISTMAS MUSICAL November 13th-21st. The Sisters of Hoboken have turned the convent basement into a TV studio and are producing their first ever Christmas Special for cable access. This hilarious musical is filled with singing and dancing nuns, a very unique rendition of the Nutcracker as well a host of hilarious new songs.

Eight strangers and two servants are invited to a mansion off the coast of Devon. Once the arrive, statuettes of little soldier boys on the mantel fall to the ground in conjunction with a nursery rhyme telling how each of the ten 'soldiers' met his death until there were none. Translated from Moliere's French by Richard Wilbur, the witty rhyming couplets keep the action moving as the plots swirl and power is stolen. Join Mariane, Elmire and their maid Dorine as they try to convince Orgon that Tartuffe is an imposter and not a saint.

Some people cannot be convinced of something unless they see it with their own two eyes, and even then they can be skeptical. This is a problem that Orgon, a character from Moliere's classic comedy TARTUFFE faces. Everyone around him, except his Mother, seems to understand that the man that Orgon has taken in has a less than stellar past, and that he's up to no good. But Orgon's blindness, even in the face of being confronted with eyewitness accounts, works against him taking any action against a man he sees as being perfectly pious. Mustard Seed Theatre has produced a funny and extremely well cast version of this play, and it's required viewing for anyone looking for something a little light and easy to take.

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) continues its 2009-2010 Mainstage series with Wendy Kesselman's adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett.

Playwright Wendy Kesselman has referred to her current adaptation of THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK as the definitive version, and considering the fact that newly available passages of Anne's diary were incorporated into the text, it's certainly more eye opening in a lot of respects. Kesselman gives us a more thorough understanding of Anne, while also enhancing some of the darker aspects of her story, packing this episode in history with considerable emotional weight. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is presenting a superb staging of this fresh adaptation (February 10 - March 7), featuring a stellar ensemble that breathes new life into this tragic tale.
