The grand incomparable spectacle of opera returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse this fall with an impressive lineup broadcast from the Met Live in HD.Tonight, October 28, at 6:30 p.m., William Kentridge storms the Met in Shostakovich's The Nose.

The Met: Live in HD continues on Saturday October 26 at 1pm in the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre with Shostakovich's,The Nose.

New York, NY (October 21, 2013) – The Met: Live in HD series continues on the big screen on with Shostakovich's The Nose and Puccini'sTosca.

The Ambassador Theatre Group Ltd (ATG) today announces that an agreement has been reached for global private equity firm Providence Equity Partners to become a major shareholder in the company, having successfully reached agreement for its seventh fund to purchase a majority share from current investors led by Exponent Private Equity.

Thanks to the Live in HD series, the best of British theatre and The New York Metropolitan opera are coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse. The Met's inventive production of Shostakovich's The Nose will fill the Playhouse on Monday, October 28. Appropriately for Halloween, Frankenstein stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller on Thursday, October 31. Alan Bennett's The Habit of Art is center stage on Wednesday, November 20. These performances start at 6:30 p.m. and include behind-the-scenes tours and commentary by some of the genres' most revered stars. For dinner-and-a-show, Bernard's (22 West Lane, Ridgefield) is offering a special $45 prix-fixe menu, or a free glass of wine with dinner when tickets for Frankenstein and The Habit of Art are presented; reservations suggested beginning at 5 p.m.These events are underwritten by Jeanne Cook, Anita and Nicholas Donofrio, Liz and Steven Goldstone, Marilyn and Joe Kreitz, Joanne and John Patrick, Sabina and Walter Slavin, Taylor Zemo Foundation and The Ridgefield Press with support from Starbucks and Whistle Stop Bakery (products available in the lobby) and media sponsor WSHU.

The Collegiate Chorale announces the addition of two new members of the company's executive team. Ted Sperling and Edward Barnes join Music Director James Bagwell and Executive Director Jennifer Collins as Artistic Director and Producing Director, respectively, effective immediately.

It's not often that singers make their debuts on Broadway and then make a splash at the opera, but that's what happened when Paulo Szot--a Tony winner for “South Pacific”--opened in the Met's production of the Shostakovich opera THE NOSE in 2010. The exciting, intoxicating production by the South African multi-media artist William Kentridge, conducted by Valery Gergiev, is back. Happily, it will be broadcast worldwide in the Met's LIVE IN HD series on October 26, with Szot reprising his outstanding performance.

The Met: Live in HD series continues on the big screen for the eighth consecutive season on October 26 at 12:55 pm ET with Shostakovich's The Nose. William Kentridge stormed the Met with his inventive production of Shostakovich's opera, which dazzled opera and art lovers alike in its inaugural run in 2010. Paulo Szot reprises his acclaimed performance of a bureaucrat, whose satirical misadventures in search of his missing nose are based on Gogol's comic story. Valery Gergiev conducts. An encore presentation will also show in movie theaters on October 30 at 6:30pm.

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live transmissions to movie theaters, will feature 10 productions in the 2013-14 season, offering a significant portion of the Met season to opera lovers around the world.
