Last night, May 2, 2016, The New York Pops celebrated its 33rd birthday with a grand gala evening celebrating the revolutionary collaborations of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, the songwriting team behind LES MISERABLES, Miss Saigon, and more. Serving as Honorary Co-Chairs for the event were musical theatre legends Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Patti LuPone. BroadwayWorld takes you inside the dinner following the show below!

The Broadway at Birdland Concert Series welcomed Jamie deRoy & friends for a star-studded cabaret show last night and BroadwayWorld was there.

If this Jamie deRoy 25th Anniversary Show was competing against some of those great Ed Sullivan variety episodes it would have been no contest.  First of all, Jamie knows how to give an introduction, is an entertainer herself, and the best in entertainment business sign up to be in a Jamie deRoy & friends show . The Actors Fund presented this 40th annual 30th Jamie Birthday show and it was truly a spectacular event with some of the most talented performers on the stage at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at the john Jay College of Criminal Justice.  The only crime last night was that the event wasn't televised live but I'm sure excerpts will be available on Jamie's cable TV show and through the facilities of The Actors Fund.

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell made his Cafe' Carlyle debut last night as he opened the Carlyle's fall season. The two-week engagement, entitled Plays With Music which featured Broadway favorites and standards.

There was astonishment on the faces of a packed Concert Hall at Lynn University in Boca Raton Florida, as Tommy Tune at the end of the show asked the audience to sing Happy 76th Birthday to him. The way Tune had just danced, sung, and charmed, no one including producer and Elizabeth Taylor look-a-like Jan McArt could believe the stunning nine time Tony Award winner was a senior citizen. A designated New York City Living Landmark had become a snowbird for the weekend to perform at the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center at Lynn University. The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for Murder for Two, with book and music by Joe Kinosian and book and lyrics by Kellen Blair. Globe veteran Scott Schwartz (A Room with a View at the Globe, The Hunchback of Notre Dame at La Jolla Playhouse) returns to direct Blair and Kinosian's Off Broadway hit, a vaudevillian mystery musical with an energetic two-man cast. Murder for Two will run January 24 - March 1 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Producers of the new political comedy Tail! Spin!, which opened to rave reviews on October 1 at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at Culture Project have announced a 9-week extension of the run, now scheduled through February 1. (The previous closing date was set for November 30.)
