The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, today announced a star-studded lineup of award-winning performers for Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, its annual benefit concert to be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, NYC).

Jefferson Mays has found his niche role in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, in which he plays 9 different characters and changes costume 15 times throughout the show. The line outside the Walter Kerr Theatre at the end of each show is insanely long with audience members waiting to applaud his performance. Even Mays' wife, Susan Lyon, commented, 'This is almost as many people as they have for James Franco, [in Of Mice and Men].' And now, according to The New York Times, there is some good news for the after-life of this musical: Jefferson Mays is considering touring with the production.

It's Tonys season! The 2014 Tony Awards will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, on CBS, on Sunday, June 8th 8:00 - 11:00 p.m. The ceremony is less than a week away, and in the meantime, BroadwayWorld wants you to get to know this year's nominees. Adam Wachter's original musical Tarrytown will get a private industry reading on Monday, March 10th in New York City. Tarrytown is a one act present day musical loosely based on Washington Irving's 'The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow.' Wachter has written the book, music & lyrics. Andrew Keenan-Bolger ('Submissions Only') directs.

At a press conference earlier today, the cast of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder announced that the production just reached the landmark 1,000th death of its leading man. Jefferson Mays, playing eight members of the D'Ysquith clan, is knocked off eight times in each performance, or sixty-four times each week. Mr. Mays has reached 1,000 stage deaths faster than any lead actor in Broadway history. At the press conference, Mr. Mays' co-star, Bryce Pinkham, presented Mr. Mays with an honorary 'death certificate' on behalf of the entire cast.

Love is in the air at Murder for Two! Ghostlight Records has announced the release of the original Broadway cast recording of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, the new musical currently running at the Walter Kerr Theatre. The album - produced by Joel Moss and Kurt Deutsch, with Joey Parnes serving as Executive Producer - will be released by digital outlets on February 25 with the disc available in stores and online April 1. The physical CD features a 40-page booklet with complete lyrics, color photos, a synopsis by librettist Robert L. Freedman and an essay by renowned theater writer and critic David Cote. Following its critically acclaimed, smash-hit runs at Hartford Stage and San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder will open on Broadway tonight. Starring Tony Award-winner Jefferson Mays in a highly acclaimed, tour de force, multi-character performance, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder features a book by Robert L. Freedman, music by Steven Lutvak, and lyrics by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. Darko Tresnjak directs and Peggy Hickey choreographs. The production began performances on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. The opening night is set for tonight, November 17.

Broadway's bloody brilliant new musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, has announced a rush ticket policy. A number of $35 tickets will be made available for each performance for patrons aged thirty-five and younger. These tickets must be purchased day-of, in-person at the box office and are subject to availability. Valid photo I.D. will be required, and patrons are limited to two rush tickets per performance.
