NYTW Presents AFTERMATH, Performances Begin 9/1

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Aftermath, written by Jessica Blank & Erik Jensen, and directed by Ms. Blank, will begin performances Tuesday, September 1, at 7pm, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00pm. The production will run through Sunday, October 4.

Uptown Players Announce Their 2010 Season And Capital Campaign Updates

Uptown Players, a professional theatre group located in the Uptown/Oak Lawn area of Dallas, has announced its 2010 season, which will feature the United States premiere of Closer to Heaven, regional premieres of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Regrets Only, as well as the recent Broadway hit Equus and the hysterical musical revue Forbidden Broadway's Greatest Hits.

FaceSpace, written by Talia Gonzales & Bisanne Massoud, will be part of the 2009 Midtown International Theatre Festival. The show, produced by Lucky Penny Productions, in Association with The 7th Sign Theatre Productions, will open on Saturday, July 18th & run for six performances at the MainStage Theatre, 312 West 36th Street. This Premiere Production will be directed by Daniel Winerman. Lighting Design is by Jana Mattioli.

MR. CHARLES, CURRENTLY OF PALM BEACH Comes To Fort Lauderdale 7/3-5

Both plays will star Mr. Leddick, Merry Jo Cortada and Stefan Pinto. Funny and sad, sexy and sinister, the two plays promise an exhilarating emotional experience for the audience. With plays ricocheting between Palm Beach and Mexico City, this is a completely new adventure for theatergoers. The show is directed by David Kingery and the incidental music is by Andrew Sargent. V.J. Colonna is producing with stage management by Jamie Cooper.

Eisenberg, Ficca Star In I HATE HAMLET At Totem Pole Playhouse, Opens 6/30

I Hate Hamlet, the hilarious Broadway comedy about the theatre and the difficulty of understanding Shakespeare, opens at Totem Pole Playhouse on June 30 with two gentlemen in two very familiar roles. Matthew Eisenberg, a Washington, DC based actor, plays a young television star, Andrew Rally, who is faced with the challenge of performing Shakespeare's most famous and most challenging role, Hamlet.

HEART OF THE CITY With Foss, Kerns, Kurtz Begins 6/11 At Theater At 30th Street

Fern Kershon and Orange Thought Productions will present Heart of the City, a new play by Eric Lane, directed by Martha Banta, featuring Eliza Foss, Scott Kerns, Marcia Jean Kurtz, Martin LaPlatney, Melissa Miller and Mark Setlock. On Saturday May 30th 2009 Tony Winner Sara Ramirez star of ' Grey's Anatomy' and 'Spamalot' and Emmy Winner Carson Kressley host of 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' and 'How to Look Good Naked' will be hosting the first benefit gala event for the Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation. The event will take place at The Brandon Fradd Theatre at Whyte Hall in Fire Island Pines, Long Island, NY starting at 6PM. Ms. Ramirez and Mr. Kressley have united forces to honor their close friend Al D. Rodriguez, an actor, performer, producer, mentor, and creative tour de force with an evening of music and film.

Houdyshell Is 'CORALINE' for MCC, Previews Begin 5/7

The New York Times is reporting that, MCC Theater has announced a bit of unconventional casting news for its stage adaptation of the graphic novel by Neil Gaiman. Jayne Houdyshell, 55, who was nominated for a Tony award for her performance in 'Well,' will play the 9-year-old Coraline according to the Times' Arts, Briefly column.

SPEECH AND DEBATE And THE MARRIAGE BED Among Diversionary Theatre 2009/10 Season

Diversionary Theatre's 2009-2010 season of two gender-bending musicals and four provocative plays includes two West Coast Premieres, dynamic local actors and directors, and a reading of a new queer opera. The six-show mainstage season includes: the new musical Twist by Gila Sand and Paul Leschen, based on Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, directed by James Vasquez; Bent, the seminal play by Martin Sherman, in a co-production with ion theatre company; Paul Rudnick's big gay comedy The New Century, directed by Igor Goldin; same-sex marriage gets a comic nod with The Marriage Bed by Nona Shepphard, directed by Rosina Reynolds; laugh out loud with teenage angst in Speech and Debate by Steven Karam, directed by Jason Southerland; and filled with melancholy and lust, the musical play Moscow, by Nick Salamone and Maury R. McIntyre, rounds out the season.

Works By Blank, Jensen, Gilman, Cowan, Aarons Set For NYTW 2009-10 Season

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced plans for NYTW's 2009-10 season. One of New York's leading non-profit theatre companies, NYTW will present a 27th season that includes work by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, Rebecca Gilman, and Geoffrey Cowan and Leroy Aarons. A fourth production, scheduled for spring 2010, will be announced in the coming weeks.
