UP Comedy Club is known for bringing the best stand-up comedy talent in the country to Chicago. The remainder of this fall's line-up features many of the best known names in comedy today, including Ian Bagg, Maz Jobrani, D.L. Hughley, Christopher Titus, Todd Barry Kyle Kinaneand Loni Love. Each show includes a feature stand-up comic and a local emcee that hosts the evening. In addition to this all-star line-up, UP Comedy Club also presents Porchlight Music Theatre's BEST MUSICAL! A Completely Improvised Musical Comedy, running October 2 - November 6, 2013.
George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced the casting of MARLO THOMAS, award-winning actress of stage and screen, in the world premiere production of Clever Little Lies, by Tony Award-winner JOE DiPIETRO (rescheduled from the 2012-13 season). Mr. Saint will helm the production, slated to take the stage in New Brunswick, November 19 - December 22. The remainder of the cast will be announced at a later date.
Michael Mendelson plays the lead role of Felix Artifex in Artists Rep's production of MISTAKES WERE MADE. Artistic Director Damaso Rodriguez directs Mendelson and guides the show to opening as the production's Associate Director. Preview performances begin tonight, September 24 and the play will open on September 28.
Ashley Williams will star as Ellen Roark in Rupert Holmes' stage adaptation of John Grisham's A Time To Kill, opening on Broadway on October 20, 2013 at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). MCC Theater recently announced that Neil LaBute's new play, Reasons to be Happy, also directed by LaBute, will now extend through Saturday, June 29th. Reasons to Be Happy is a companion piece to LaBute's critically-acclaimed award-winning play,Reasons to Be Pretty, first produced at MCC Theater in 2008 before moving to Broadway where it was nominated for three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Play.
