Bucks County Playhouse audiences will have the opportunity to revisit one of America's most storied musicals when it presents a world-premiere concert adaptation of Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern's legendary musical, "Show Boat," Saturday, June 23 at 7 p.m.
Three theater veterans who originally connected at the Paul Robeson Theater have come together to present The Trilogy - An Evening of One-Act Plays at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space, June 22-30. Co-produced by playwright Gary Batson (Phoenix Arts) and actor Eugene Daniels (Daniels Productions), this production represents the completion of an idea that was postponed by the untimely death of their third partner Arnold Beauchamp, former artistic director of the Robeson. Now directing the production is Evria Ince-Waldron, also from The Paul Robeson Theater.

On June 1, 2018 The SF Recovery Theatre will commemorate their 20th Annual Season with a new production of Reflections In Black 2018, a collection of scenes by African American writers, featuring an African American cast, which examines what it means to be Black in the United States. Being staged in the heart of the Tenderloin at PianoFight, 144 Taylor Street, Reflections In Black 2018 runs every Friday and Saturday at 7pm, from June 1 through June 16. Goodman Theatre celebrates the lives of "two strong, vibrant women dispensing joy and wisdom" (Chicago Tribune) in a major revival of Emily Mann's Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years. Directed by the Goodman's longtime Resident Director Chuck Smith, the production features Ella Joyce and Marie Thomas as the Delany centenarians, Bessie (1891 - 1995) and Sadie (1889 -1999), respectively. The sisters were discovered in 1991 when Amy Hill Hearth interviewed them for The New York Times. Following the article, the trio co-authored the book, Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years-a New York Times bestseller and heartfelt reflection of their family history and triumphs over prejudices in times of social unrest. Mann adapted it for the stage, first at McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, New Jersey and then to Broadway, where it ran for 317 performances. Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years appears May 5 - June 10, 2018 in the Albert Theatre (opening night is Monday, May 14). The New Black Fest and The Lark, two theater organizations dedicated to celebrating and advocating for stories that explore the intersection of art and social justice, are proud to announce the fifth annual The New Black Fest at The Lark. Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2017-18 Kumble Theater season with Daniel Beaty's solo theatrical tour-de-force, Emergency, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 8pm and Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3pm. Originally titled Emergence-SEE when it made its New York premiere at the Public Theater in 2006 under the direction of Kenny Leon, the show has since toured nationally and internationally, earning Beaty a 2007 Obie Award for Writing & Performing and a 2007 AUDELCO Award for Solo Performance.
