THE DUCHESS OF MALFI opened at Shakespeare's Globe on January 9, 2014 starring Gemma Arterton in the title role. Let's see what the critics had to say:
The international cast of "WEST SIDE STORY" has arrived in London for the show's run at Sadler's Wells until 22 September, and some of the members of the two rival gangs - The Jets and The Sharks - headed to London's edgy and urban Leake Street, SE1 to re-create some of the show's most iconic dance moves.
The roof got lifted off the Birmingham Hippodrome last night with the rapturous audience reaction to Stage Entertainment's UK touring production of Hairspray. With big hair and fun aplenty, you will not find a show with so much energy and attack as this one. With wide appeal across the board due to the 2007 film starring John Travolta as the loveable Edna Turnblad, Hairspray has something for everyone. It is great to see a younger audience drawn to the theatre; very few shows these days have such power. Hairspray is topical, has good morals, catchy music by Marc Shaiman and brilliantly choreographed dance routines by Jerry Mitchell - the show has everything!
Set in 1960s Baltimore, Hairspray follows the story of enthusiastic teen Tracy Turnblad, played by Freya Sutton, as she fulfils her dreams of dancing on her favourite television show.
A charming hit direct from London (which later debuted in the U.S. for our neighbors up north in San Francisco over the summer), PETER PAN--now performing its only Los Angeles- and Orange County-area engagements at the Orange County Performing Arts Center through November 21--uses advanced projection technologies, clever staging and design, gravity-defying flying sequences, and an engaging ensemble cast to produce a spry new take on the classic JM Barrie tale. This production of PETER PAN is quite unlike anything ever produced before... certainly putting 'imagine' in re-imagined.
