Hailed as the launchpad of the American theater, the two-time Tony Award-winning Eugene O'Neill Theater Center responsible for developing more than 1,100 new works for the stage as well as thousands of artists through the semester-long training programs of the National Theater Institute, recently announced the 2015 summer season of plays, musicals, and other works in development through the National Theater Institute, National Puppetry Conference, National Music Theater Conference, National Playwrights Conference, and the Cabaret & Performance Conference.

Rehearsals are underway for the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum production of Paul Oakley Stovall's biting new comedy 'Immediate Family,' directed by Phylicia Rashad. The cast is set for the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum production of "Immediate Family" by Paul Oakley Stovall. As the second show in the 48th season at the Mark Taper Forum, the play will begin on April 22 and continues through June 7, 2015, with the opening taking place on May 3.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre Artistic Director Eric Rosen today announced casting for the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning play by Tony Kushner, Angels in America, to be directed by MacArthur 'Genius' Fellow David Cromer. Angels in America , which transformed the landscape of American theatre when it premiered in 1991, is a riveting, thought-provoking masterpiece about sexuality, identity, religion, and American's history and future, set in the AIDS crisis of the late 1980s.

Yesterday, November 10, 2014, Theatre Communications Group (TCG) celebrated its annual gala. This year the organization honored Jules Fisher, Lynn Nottage, and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation at 583 Park Avenue in New York City. The performances included previews of two productions from TCG Member Theatres: A Walk on the Moon (New York Stage and Film) and Immediate Family (About Face Theatre, Center Theatre Group, and the Goodman Theatre). Three bold new plays and two classic dramas will be presented in Center Theatre Group's 2015 season at the Mark Taper Forum, it was announced today by CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.

First Floor Theater has announced its Second Annual LitFest, TWAIN'S WORLD, a kaleidoscope of new work inspired by the life and work of one of America's greatest writers. Last year's GrimmFest brought together some of Chicago's most exciting writers and directors, including Bonnie Metzgar, Seth Bockley, Philip Dawkins and Greg Allen. Given the choice of three classic authors, the attendees of this year's annual season kick-off party selected Mark Twain. This moved an exciting, diverse group of playwrights to bring their voice to a conversation around themes in Twain's work, like establishing a new American identity, racism, and the satirization of civilized society. This year's fest promises a full range of adaptation, with everything from page-to-stage to a shadow puppet musical. The press opening is tonight, Friday, July 11, 2014 at 8 pm. Tickets are available at firstfloortheater.com.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company's world-premiere production of The Qualms by ensemble member Bruce Norris is currently in previews, and BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below! This sexy comedy marks Steppenwolf's eighth production and seventh world premiere by the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning author of Clybourne Park. The Qualms runs through August 31, 2014 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St).
