The 4th Annual NEWvember New Plays Festival took place November 6th - 9th at the Carpenter Shop Theatre in the historic village of Tivoli in upstate New York. A co-production of Tangent Theatre Company and AboutFACE Ireland, over 300 patrons attended the festival and the Carpenter Shop broke its all time box record for a single performance at the Saturday evening reading of the play Strong Force by Shawna Casey.

AboutFACE Ireland will be presenting Orson Welles' Christmas Carol, a new play for Christmas for the whole family, at the Powerscourt Theatre in Dublin, for 5 performances only, December 20th-22nd 2013. Written by Paul Nugent, it tells a fictionalized account, based on true events, of the Christmas Eve 1938 night where, in CBS Radio Studio 1, the young radio superstar Orson Welles and his Mercury Theatre on the Air are set to perform their eagerly awaited weekly 60-minute version of a classic; tonight it's “A Christmas Carol.” Only things aren't too Christmassy: it's ten minutes to ON-AIR and legendary Scrooge Lionel Barrymore has fallen sick, and now 23-year-old Orson has to step into his shoes; plus the script still isn't right, Orson's on the rampage, his cast are revolting after three days of rehearsing without sleep, and the pressure's on after the success of “War of the Worlds”: the Nation awaits and Hollywood's watching! Will this Christmas Carol have a happy ending?

Tangent Theatre Company and AboutFACE Ireland have announced the final selections for their 3rd annual NEWvember New Plays Festival (Nov. 7-10, 2013) - a showcase of original plays by promising playwrights to be held at the Carpenter Shop Theater, Tangent's 50-seat performance space in the historic village of Tivoli. The Hudson Valley's NEWvember Festival will spotlight these eight works over an energetic four-day weekend, presented via rehearsed readings and featuring established actors and directors bringing these works to life. The selected writers, four women and four men, hail from origins all over the globe, including Connecticut, Chicago, Wales, Ireland and, coincidentally, four from Pennsylvania.

MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN is pleased to announce the world premiere production of Marianne Driscoll's MCGOLDRICK'S THREAD, with additional lyrics by Eliot Riskin, music by Ronnie D'Addario, dance arrangements by Patrick Mangan, choreography by Riverdance alums Jason Oremus and Garrett Coleman and directed by Kira Simring initial performances sold-out prior to the public announcement. MCGOLDRICK'S THREAD will play a two-week Off-Broadway limited engagement, as part of the 1st Irish Theater Festival, at St. Marks Theatre 80 (80 St. Marks Pl, NYC). Performances begin Wednesday, September 11 additional performances have been added to accommodate audience demand: Sept. 14th & 28th at 2:00 p.m. and Sept. 17th & 24th at 7:00 p.m.

This spring, the students in Site-Specific Directing at Primary Stages Einhorn School of Performing Arts (ESPA) have staged theatre all over New York City: from St. Mark's Church, to Tompkins Square Park, Central Park, and more. The directors concluded their class this past week by fully producing Chekhov on the Hudson - six short Chekhov adaptations near the Hudson River.
