Last evening, the Apollo Theater celebrated its 11th Annual Spring Gala raising $1.7M for its year-round artistic and community programming initiatives. The concert portion of the evening was hosted by LL COOL J, and opened with the dynamic dancing duo Laurent & Larry Bourgeois of Les Twins. The concert also featured performances by legendary R&B group, The O'Jays including rousing version of Love Train, The Backstabbers, For the Love of Money and more. Rising star vocalist, Leon Bridges brought the crowd to its feet with a performance of Mustang Sally and vocalist Andra Day performed her hit song City Burns,followed by a touching performance of Unforgettable in tribute to legendary songstress Natalie Cole. Host LL COOL J also joined DJ D-Nice for a tribute to Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest - one of several iconic artists lost in 2016.
'The Music of Led Zeppelin: A Rock Symphony' Set for Blossom Music Festival, 8/20

The Blossom Music Festival announces that The Music of Led Zeppelin: A Rock Symphony will be presented at Blossom Music Center on August 20, 2016. Brent Havens will conduct the Blossom Festival Orchestra in the performance, which features vocalist Randy Jackson. Both artists will be making their Blossom Music Festival debut. The touring production of The Who's Classic Quadrophenia, previously scheduled for August 20, has been cancelled.

Former Chelsea and England footballer Dennis Wise joined cast members from Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera on stage at The Queen's Theatre to give some footballing tips prior to their final showdown match on 2nd August at Bromley Football Club. The match sees the two giants of the West End, Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera, leaving the West End stage behind and heading down to Bromley Arena, not for a singing show down, but for a football match. Following on the success of the last two years they are planning a third and final MAD Match to see who will be the ultimate champion! The match, played to raise funds for the Make A Difference Trust, promises to be a mix of football and fun for all.

Earl A. Powell III, director, and Franklin Kelly, deputy director and chief curator, National Gallery of Art, announced today that 6,430 works of art have been selected initially from more than 17,000 Corcoran works in the Gallery's custody to join the nation's collection of European and American art. As curators continue to review the collection of the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the newly accessioned objects will have an immediate impact across NGA's collections and will be particularly transformative for its holdings of American art in all media.
