The Public Theater has announced a one-week extension for the New York premiere of Head of Passes, part of Oskar Eustis' 10th anniversary season. Written byTarell Alvin McCraney and directed by Tina Landau, Head of Passes officially opened last night, Monday, March 28 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, April 17. Ghostlight Records has released the original cast recording of the world premiere musical FIRST DAUGHTER SUITE -- written by Michael John LaChiusa and directed by Kirsten Sanderson -- in digital formats today, February 26. The physical CD will be online and in stores on Friday, April 1.

In this third year, PUBLIC STUDIO will present PRETTY HUNGER by Public Theater Emerging Writers Group alumna Patricia Ione Lloyd, directed by Martha Banta, running March 10 through March 19. The second show, TEENAGE DICK by Mike Lew, will be directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel and run March 24 through April 2.

Just announced, AMERICAN SON by Christopher Demos-Brown and DRY POWDER by Sarah Burgess have tied as recipients of the 2016 Laurents / Hatcher Foundation Award. The respective producing theaters will each receive $50,000 towards the production expenses of the premiere works. Burgess and Demos-Brown will each receive an award of $25,000.

The Public Theater announced today that Terry Morello has been named the new Chief Advancement Officer. Morello, who will start at The Public on January 19, has more than 25 years of experience working with leading non-profits in the arts and culture industry, and most recently served as the Senior Vice President of External Affairs at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the past eight years.
The Public Theater just began performances for the 12th annual UNDER THE RADAR FESTIVAL last night, January 6. This popular and highly-anticipated program of The Public Theater's winter season will include artists from across the U.S. and around the world, including Belgium, Canada, Chile, France, Japan, and Rwanda. Curated by Co-Directors Mark Russell and Meiyin Wang, this year's UNDER THE RADAR will also launch a new series, Under the Radar + Joe's Pub: In Concert, which highlights artists who are working at the intersection of music and theater.
