Theater J, the nation's largest and most prominent Jewish theater, announces full casting for the 2016-2017 season, the first season chosen by new Theater J Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company announces its final production of Season 36, the D.C. premiere of An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, directed by Nataki Garrett. An Octoroon will run from May 30 to June 26, 2016.

For a brief moment when the opening night performance of IN A WORD ended there was quiet. A stillness fell as the audience collected itself, took a breath, and processed the intensity of the experience. Then, after a beat, the well-deserved applause began.

Fresh off its rolling World Premiere, the mind bending IN A WORDbrings playwright Lauren Yee back to The Hub. Three time Helen Hayes nominee Kerri Rambowleads the cast as Fiona, a mother wrestling with the loss of her son Tristan, kidnapped years earlier. Rambow is no stranger to Yee's work having earned rave reviews playing the Hatmaker's Wife in Hub's production of THE HATMAKER'S WIFE (formally A MAN, HIS WIFE, AND HIS HAT).

Casting has been announced for The Hub Theatre's spring production of Philip Dawkins musical, macabre comedy, FAILURE: A LOVE STORY. A trio of sisters played by TIA SHEARER (Jenny June), MAGGIE ERWIN (Nellie) and CAROLYN KASHNER (Gertie) guide us through this wonderful fable of love and life as they all lose their hearts to a gentleman caller embodied by the ever-magnetic MICHAEL KEVIN DARNALL (Mortimer Mortimer). The family is made whole with CHRIS STINSON (John N.) an adopted brother and ROSE MCCONNELL as the melodic Gramaphone

The production deserves an 'A' for effort.

If this is how Theater J starts its season, I can't wait to see what else is in store.

In one of the most unusual musical stories since Sweeney Todd, we enter into the world of transgendered people living in the rural south and the lives they lead in a hostile environment. With country and bluegrass music the difficulties and challenges of becoming who you are is explored with both brutal honesty and tender understanding.

Casting has been announced for The Hub Theatre's spring production of LAUREN YEE's time-bending comedy, A MAN, HIS WIFE AND HIS HAT. SASHA OLINICKleads the cast as Hetchman, a retired hatmaker and title character of the piece. Olinick earned rave reviews as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the Round House Theatre production of AMADEUS. This production marks his debut with The Hub Theatre.
