The idea behind this show - which is pretty much a guaranteed hit wherever it has been produced - is to condense many of Shakespeare's masterworks into a two hour orgy of down to earth humor and outright fun. Opening with ROMEO AND JULIET and closing with HAMLET the trio led us on a merry chase through the classics, poking fun as they go.
This is the story of Dorothy Thompson, an American journalist and radio broadcaster during WWII who was known to some as the "First Lady of American Journalism". In Cassandra Speaks at the Nora Theatre Company at the Central Square Theater, we see her the morning of her third wedding, as she struggles to finish an article, looks back on her previous loves, and recounts her accomplishments and failures as a journalist in Europe and America.

If you do believe in spooks, to paraphrase the character actor Burt Lahr as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, then you'd probably gather that the spirits of our dear departed greats of Broadway are likely denizens of the theaters where they achieved their greatest successes, perhaps at the Neil Simon Theatre (formerly The Alvin), for example. From the elegant cocktail reception, to the stunning performance, the sumptuous dinner and the extraordinary VIP after-party, Broadway in the Berkshires, Shakespeare & Company's Gala Celebration was a resounding hit! On July 9, Artistic Director Tony Simotes welcomed a full house at the Tina Packer Playhouse (formerly Founders' Theatre) and a multitude of Broadway, opera and dance artists for the spectacular one-night-only benefit performance.
