The soulful songs and glamorous nightlife of the 1950s will swing once more when CabaretFest returns to Provincetown May 31 to June 3. Seasoned cabaret veterans from Boston, New York City and Palm Springs, along with newcomers, will participate in ten live shows, a Q&A session, two workshops, Marilyn Maye Master Class, networking, entertainment, an Open Mic party and education opportunities.

'MY SHIP is built up of songs composed and published in 1941. 76 years ago these songs were comforting the hearts and minds of women from that time: young brides married to soldiers headed off to fight in WW2, conventional house wives raising children alone, factory workers like Rosie the Riveter, and the entertainers passionately at work to raise the moral of AMERICA through this beautiful music.'

The celebrated Provincetown Theater's Annual Gala, "The Rat Pack Is Back" returns over the course of three nights, featuring a Vegas-style musical revue, to benefit The Provincetown Theater Foundation, beginning December 29 and continuing December 30 and January 1 (no performance on December 31).  Each evening will feature noted Cape Cod performers and special guest stars, including Bobby Wetherbee, Larry Marsland, Peter Donnelly and Thirsty Burlington.  The theater and its lobby will provide old Vegas atmospherics, with special scenic designs that echo the classic Caesars Palace interiors, plus Vegas Showgirls and Showboys.

The angel of death did not pass over Dana Lorge's house last night and the world of New York cabaret is grieving as a result. During the evening of the second Passover seder, the New York cabaret community was shocked to learn that MAC Award-winning performer and variety show host Dana Lorge died from complications of lung cancer, which was diagnosed just a few months ago.

When BroadwayWorld.com Cabaret Reviewer Billie Roe was invited to the CabaretFest 2015 Provincetown scheduled for June 4-7, it was to attend as a performer, not necessarily as a reviewer. But we couldn't resist the opportunity to have Billie at least report on some aspects of the long, event-filled weekend and record some of her impressions in something akin to a diary. After four years reviewing cabaret shows, more than two for BroadwayWorld, our lead New York cabaret critic Stephen Hanks will be giving up reviewing shows to be the BWW Cabaret section's Editor and lead feature writer. Here's how he became a cabaret reviewer, why he's giving it up, and who he's brought on board to make up BWW's new cabaret reviewing team.

When Dana Lorge's run as a Variety Show hosted ended at the Iguana Restaurant last July-and after winning two 2012 MAC Awards for 'Best Variety Show' and 'Best Variety Show Host'-who knew she'd be reduced to being a cabaret audience member searching for a new showcase? But a Metropolitan Room Mentch has come to the rescue in the form of Bernie Furshpan (the Met Room's General Partner and Manager), who has provided Dana with a monthly forum for her unique brand of cabaret shtick beginning Friday, April 5 at 7-8:15 pm. While the new show won't be the two-hour plus extravaganza of yore featuring more than a dozen performers, Dana's new 'Variety Show' promises to feature a solid group of experienced and well-known cabaret and musical theater pros. For the April 5 opener, the Lorge Lineup features Richard Skipper, her former Award-winning Co-host from the Iguana days; film and stage actor Jim Brochu (of Zero Mostel One-Man Show fame), singers LaTanya Hall (from the CBS show 'Blue Bloods) and Peggy Herman Klat, Rick Crom (Creator of Newsical the Musical), and Mr. Furshpan, who will show off his stand-up comedy chops. But the real star of the show will always be the hilarious, unpredictable, darling Dana, who will both crack you up with her infectious humor and surprise you with her engaging singing performances.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) has announced the nominees for the 26th Annual MAC Awards. The winners will be announced live at the MAC Awards Show on Thursday, March 29th, at the world-famous B.B. King Blues Club & Grill.
