Williamstown Theatre Festival has named Mandy Greenfield as its new Artistic Director, the Festival's Board Chair Matt Harris announced today. Greenfield, who is currently Artistic Producer at Manhattan Theatre Club, succeeds Jenny Gersten beginning September 2014. As previously announced, Gersten departs Williamstown Theatre Festival in January 2014 to become Executive Director of Friends of the Highline. Gersten will program the upcoming 2014 season, and Williamstown Theatre Festival Producer Stephen Kaus will oversee the season. Greenfield's tenure as Artistic Director will begin immediately following the 2014 season, the Festival's 60th.
Williamstown Theatre Festival announced today that this year's Benefit will honor Award-winning director and frequent WTF collaborator Scott Ellis, on Monday, November 18th at 6:30 p.m. at the Edison Ballroom in New York City (240 West 47th Street). It was announced today that Williamstown Theatre Festival Artistic Director Jenny Gersten will step down at the end of the year to become Executive Director of Friends of the Highline, the non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and re-use of an elevated railway that has become a renowned public space in New York City. Starring Oscar winner Michael Caine (The Dark Knight Rises, Inception), who recently signed on to star in Interstellar his 6th Christopher Nolan film, Last Love is written and directed by Sandra Nettelbeck, and co-stars Clemence Poesy (In Bruges, 127 Hours), Justin Kirk (Goats, Showtime's 'Weeds'), Gillian Anderson (The X Files) and Jane Alexander (Dream House, Terminator Salvation).
