This past weekend was the second in a three week run of Stephen Schwartz's PIPPIN at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre. The show opened their 2016-2017 season in Le Petit's 100th year, which is something to celebrate in and of itself. Sister Act is a musical written by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and music by Alan Menken. It is based on the hit 1992 film comedy of the same name. Patina Miller, who originated the role of Deloris in the West End production, reprised the role on Broadway, making her Broadway debut. The original cast featured Victoria Clark (Mother Superior),Fred Applegate (Monsignor), Sarah Bolt (Sister Mary Patrick), Chester Gregory (Eddie), Kingsley Leggs (Curtis), Marla Mindelle (Sister Mary Robert) and Audrie Neenan (Sister Mary Lazarus).
Based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act premiered onstage in the West End in 2009 starring Patina Miller as Deloris Van Cartier and Sheila Hancock as the Mother Superior. Just last night, Broadway's best came out for a special screening of Florence Foster Jenkins. Hosted by Colman Domingo, Cynthia Erivo, Patina Miller, Matthew Morrison, and Max von Essen, the evening celebrated Paramount's new film, which hits theatres on August 12.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) just hosted its 6th Annual GenR Summer Party. GenR, short for Generation Rescue, is a group of young and influential humanitarians who have joined forces with the IRC to help people affected by crisis to survive and rebuild their lives. Proceeds from this event support the IRC's critical humanitarian work.
