DIETRICH & CHEVALIER: The Musical, the hit musical by Jerry Mayer, starring Robert Cuccioli, Jodi Stevens and Donald Corren, will conclude its Off-Broadway run Sunday, December 26th at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46th Street (between Eighth & Ninth Ave.) DIETRICH & CHEVALIER: The Musical began performances June 5th, with the opening night on June 20th.
The producers of the long-running off-Broadway musical 'DANNY and SYLVIA: The Danny Kaye Musical' offer a special promotion during August, 2010. If you can prove your name is either DANNY or SYLVIA, you will receive two tickets for the price of one. Just bring your proof of ID to the St. Luke's Box Office at least 30 minutes prior to any performance in August.
I will leave it to you, dear readers, if you decide to take in a performance of Jerry Mayer's Dietrich and Chevalier, to determine for yourselves if it's better off being a play peppered with just a few musical moments or a full-out concert with just a smattering of narrative. As it stands now, the two-act piece with a plot that continually gets halted to present its collection of fifteen musical hits trudges along without much purpose.
Mitzi Gaynor, legendary Hollywood star of such films as South Pacific and There's No Business Like Show Business, stopped by to visit the cast of the new musical Dietrich & Chevalier during their rehearsals. (They begin performances June 5).
