The Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAOntario) is excited to announce the nominees for the 7th Annual CMAOntario Awards. Leading the nominations are seven time CMAOntario Award winner Meghan Patrick, and five time CMAOntario Award winner Tim Hicks, with six nominations each.
Elm Street will be unveiling two different initiatives in their 2019/2020 theatre season - American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and Sensory-Friendly performances of select productions. "Everyone should have the opportunity to be a part of the arts," says Siobhan Brumeblow, Elm Street's Associate Artistic Director. "Through partnerships with local organizations, we are able to provide more accessibility to the theatre for our community members who may not be able to attend without it."
From its first incarnation in 1993, MerleFest's annual Chris Austin Songwriting Competition has seen the likes of Gillian Welch, Tift Merritt, and Martha Scanlan rise to the top of an always competitive field of up-and-coming songwriters. Legendary songwriters have presided over the competition from the start as judges, too. Darrell Scott, Hayes Carll, and the late, great Guy Clark have all taken a turn at judging the CASC. This year, the event will be judged byJoey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale, better known as The Milk Carton Kids, Cruz Contreras of The Black Lillies, and Texas-troubadour Radney Foster. Mr. Americana Jim Lauderdale will host the competition and Mark Bumgarner will return as emcee for the finalist contest taking place at MerleFest's Austin Stage on Friday, April 26th at 2:00 p.m.
Gareth Malone and the Opera Holland Park Community Chorus reunite for a special performance at International Opera Awards 2019 – the annual red-carpet gala event on 29 April celebrating achievements in opera – performing at the event for the first time. Performing 'Help Me Believe' – a piece commissioned by Opera Holland Park for its Hope for Grenfell Memorial Gala last year – the Chorus will join a starry line-up of some of the biggest names in opera, including Joyce El-Khoury and Charles Castronovo. Highlights from the ceremony, presented by Petroc Trelawny, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Monday 6 May.

The Orchestra Now (TON) begins its spring season at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 pm.
