James Mulally and Vina Spiehler were elected to the LA Opera board of directors at a recent meeting.

The Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAOntario) is excited to announce the nominees for the 7th Annual CMAOntario Awards. Leading the nominations are seven time CMAOntario Award winner Meghan Patrick, and five time CMAOntario Award winner Tim Hicks, with six nominations each.

Elm Street will be unveiling two different initiatives in their 2019/2020 theatre season - American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and Sensory-Friendly performances of select productions. "Everyone should have the opportunity to be a part of the arts," says Siobhan Brumeblow, Elm Street's Associate Artistic Director. "Through partnerships with local organizations, we are able to provide more accessibility to the theatre for our community members who may not be able to attend without it."

From its first incarnation in 1993, MerleFest's annual Chris Austin Songwriting Competition has seen the likes of Gillian Welch, Tift Merritt, and Martha Scanlan rise to the top of an always competitive field of up-and-coming songwriters. Legendary songwriters have presided over the competition from the start as judges, too. Darrell Scott, Hayes Carll, and the late, great Guy Clark have all taken a turn at judging the CASC. This year, the event will be judged byJoey Ryan and Kenneth Pattengale, better known as The Milk Carton Kids, Cruz Contreras of The Black Lillies, and Texas-troubadour Radney Foster. Mr. Americana Jim Lauderdale will host the competition and Mark Bumgarner will return as emcee for the finalist contest taking place at MerleFest's Austin Stage on Friday, April 26th at 2:00 p.m.

Gareth Malone and the Opera Holland Park Community Chorus reunite for a special performance at International Opera Awards 2019 – the annual red-carpet gala event on 29 April celebrating achievements in opera – performing at the event for the first time.  Performing 'Help Me Believe' – a piece commissioned by Opera Holland Park for its Hope for Grenfell Memorial Gala last year – the Chorus will join a starry line-up of some of the biggest names in opera, including Joyce El-Khoury and Charles Castronovo. Highlights from the ceremony, presented by Petroc Trelawny, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Monday 6 May.

James Toland Vocal Arts, Inc. announced today the semifinalists for its prestigious JTVA Vocal Competition. As a not-for-profit corporation, JTVA supports gifted, emerging singers by providing exposure to expert judging, master classes, performance opportunities before live audiences, and monetary awards.

On their debut album Oakland, CA's Vale channel visions of a grim future in which the world is barren and destroyed, where agents of opportunity consume everything they can get their hands on. Titled Burden Of Sight, the album can be seen as an expression of outrage felt at the pervasive exploitation and avarice that has taken root in the band's own backyard. From rampant homelessness to the overindulgences of the upper class, it's all too easy to imagine the harsh reality of decomposing landscapes fraught with cannibalism and religious zealotry that Vale depicts across six tracks of roaring, death-infused black metal. 

TexARTS Musical Theatre Academy is pleased to present Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach, Jr. with words and music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book by Timothy Allen McDonald. The production will run April 6-7 & 13-14 at the Kam & James Morris Theatre at TexARTS. 

He's back! According to Variety, James Corden is set to return as host of the 73rd Annual Tony Awards on June 9, 2019. Corden last hosted the ceremony in 2016.

The Orchestra Now (TON) begins its spring season at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall on Tuesday, March 26 at 7:30 pm. The concert will present works by Brahms and Grieg with pianist Alessandro Taverna led by distinguished guest conductor Fabio Luisi, music director of the Zurich Opera and principal conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. The season continues through May 19, 2019.

James Corden has shared a special preview of 'Captain Marvel' stars Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson Carpool Karaoke: The Series episode airing this Friday. In the clip, the two drive through Los Angeles singing Ariana Grande's '7 Rings' and take a pressure-packed lie detector test.
