Celebration Theatre announces that the third and final show in its 2017-2018 season, the smash-hit, critically acclaimed production of CABARET

USVAA Vets Repertory and Revenant Stage (formerly The Elephant Theatre) present the world premiere of A 60's Trilogy, written by playwright and screenwriter Tommy Carter (Hellz Kitchen Ablaze, Remake for BET).

Opening at Hale Centre Theatre on August 24, 2018 and playing through October 6, 2018 is the acclaimed Broadway musical The Scarlet Pimpernel. Directed and Choreographed by Cambrian James, with Musical Direction by Lincoln Wright, The Scarlet Pimpernel is a swashbuckling, romantic, and highly-entertaining family-friendly Broadway musical with music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics and book by Nan Knighton (Jekyll & Hyde, Civil War). The show is based on the novel of the same name by Baroness Orczy. About this show, Producers Dave and Corrin Dietlein said, "Eleven years ago, when we first produced The Scarlet Pimpernel, we knew the show was good, but we didn't know quite what to expect or how audiences would receive it.

Jaap van Zweden will begin his tenure as the 26th Music Director of the New York Philharmonic with his inaugural Opening Gala Concert, New York, Meet Jaap, Thursday, September 20, 2018. The program will feature the World Premiere of Ashley Fure's Filament, commissioned by the Philharmonic for the occasion; Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring; and Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major with Daniil Trifonov as soloist.

Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical's lead Andrew Polec, who plays the character of 'forever young' Strat, is leaving the West End production of the show. Polec, who won the 'Joe Allen Best West End Debut' in the Stage Debut Awards 2017 for his performance as Strat, has been involved in the show since the beginning. He commented:

Second in Horizon's New American Dreams Series, How Black Mothers Say I Love You is a powerful, funny and touching tale of a Jamaican mother and her daughters back home together - laughing, shouting and searching for love. How Black Mothers Say I Love You makes its U.S. premiere at Horizon Theatre Company with an all-star cast and creative team, with performances beginning July 13. Ottawa Tonite says, "Playwright Trey Anthony's love letter written to those women in her family that had to leave their children behind has both a whimsical and a hard edge to it. This play is good - standing ovation good.  Sweet, touching and funny, ample in its raw emotion, How Black Mothers Say I Love You can't help but work its way into your heart." The play is sponsored by the family and friends of Denise McLaughlin in honor of her milestone birthday.   Performances begin July 13 and run through August 26 (press opening on July 13) on the intimate Horizon Theatre stage in Little Five Points/Inman Park.

Showtime Australia's acclaimed music production "The Greatest Love of All: The Whitney Houston Show" starring Belinda Davids will make its debut in the Chicago area at the Rosemont Theatre (5400 N River Road) on August 11 at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 12 at 10 a.m.  

Once Upon a Rhyme: A Musical Tale (formerly iLLA! A Hip Hop Musical), with book, music, and lyrics by Ronve O'Daniel and music, orchestrations, and arrangements by Jevares C. Myrick will be presented as part of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2018 New Works Festival.

The world premiere play will perform Thursday, September 6, through Sunday, September 30, to open the Tony Award-winning regional theatre's 55th season. Jackson Gay will direct.

Standing Room Only and Graceful Productions have announced a staged reading of the new musical Calvin Berger at the Hudson Backstage Theatre in Hollywood. With book, music, and lyrics by Barry Wyner and directed by Ovation Award-winner Richard Israel, the Calvin Berger staged reading will be presented today, August 10, and Saturday, August 11, at 8pm and Sunday, August 12, at 7pm. The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Grace Kaufman, Julia Lester, Jason Eric Testa, and one more actor to be announced. The musical director is Anthony Lucca.          

The streets of Pittsfield, (more precisely Barrington Stage Co's Boyd Quinson Mainstage on Union Street) became the streets of 1957 New York City as one of the greatest Broadway Shows of all times, West Side Store had it's opening night performance.  Nowadays you don't have gangs fighting on Pittsfield streets but you do have theater goers fighting to get into the many productions of Barrington Stage Co. and the sold out season at Mr. (Bill) Finn's Cabaret.
