Three friends embark on a joyous journey of sisterhood, discovering their inner 'duende' through a flamenco class for middle-aged women. Heart Song, the newest comedy/drama from Stephen Sachs (Bakersfield Mist, Cyrano), opens at The Fountain Theatre on May 25 with Shirley Jo Finney (In the Red and Brown Water) directing and choreography by internationally renowned flamenco dancer Maria "Cha Cha" Bermudez.

When Artistic Director Jeremy Stanbary planned the second season for Open Window Theatre, no one knew that the world would be welcoming a new pope in 2013. When one witnesses the world premiere production of Mercy Unrelenting, however, it would seem that Stanbary's decision was timely, if not prophetic. Mercy Unrelenting by Jeremy Stanbary tells the true story of a family overcome by tragedy and ultimately forgiveness. The message is akin to that of the newly elected Pope Francis whose papal motto is one of divine mercy.

Matisse: In Search of True Painting explores Henri Matisse's painting process by showcasing 49 vibrantly colored canvases that demonstrate the artist's tendency to use his completed canvases as tools, repeating compositions in order to compare effects, gauge his progress, and, as he put it, "push further and deeper into true painting." (December 4, 2012-March 17, 2013).

Performance Space 122 (PS122) and the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF), New York's premiere French cultural center, present the New York premiere of Habit, from David Levine, as part of the 2012 Crossing the Line festival. Habit is a durational performance installation that features three actors performing a 90-minute drama on a continuous loop for eight hours a day. Using a commissioned script by playwright Jason Grote, Habit takes place within a four-walled, fully-furnished and functional American ranch house designed by Marsha Ginsberg and built inside a raw, unused space in the Essex Street Market on the Lower East Side.

Columbia University School of the Arts will hold its Celebration of Graduates at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Miller Theatre on the Morningside Campus. Graduates of the School's Master of Fine Arts programs in Film, Theatre Arts, Visual Arts and Writing, and the Master of Arts in Film Studies will be recognized by Carol Becker, Dean of Faculty, program chairs Ira Deutchman, Arnold Aronson and Gregory Amenoff, and poetry concentration director Lucie Brock-Broido.
