Chester Theatre Company Presents CURVE OF DEPARTURE

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) will present Curve of Departure by Rachel Bonds in the historic Chester Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA, from August 8 - 18. The production is directed by Keira Naughton making her CTC debut.

Ami Brabson's cabaret PHENOMENAL WOMAN will return this Spring at the Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street) on Saturday June 4th at 4pm. Ami Brabson has had recurring roles in a number of television shows. She frequently appeared as Mary Pembleton in HOMICIDE: Life on the Streets. Other TV credits include LAW & ORDER SVU, DAMAGES, UNFORGETTABLE, LAW & ORDER, THE BEAT, THE JURY, WONDERLAND and various Soap Operas.

Ami Brabson and More Set for 'Music at the Mansion' Series Next Weekend

NiCori Studios and Productions in association with the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center announces a new installment of the monthly concert series, Music at the Mansion, on Sunday, February 28, at 3pm. Performers include 4th Wall Theatre, Ami Brabson, Peggy Eason and Michael Colby.

Ten playwrights have won the New York Community Trust Helen Merrill Playwright Awards, honoring established and emerging writers for the theater. The winners are currently producing work on topics ranging from basement dwelling families in the middle of the 21st century to the 19th century all-black community that faced destruction in order to create Central Park.

New York Premiere of TOUGH TITTY Begins Tonight at Paradise Factory

The New York premiere of the late award-winning playwright Oni Faida Lampley's play Tough Titty, a poignant and funny exploration of what comes next for a Brooklyn mother diagnosed with breast cancer begins tonight April 23 and runs through May 11.

Oni Faida Lampley's TOUGH TITTY to Run 4/23-5/11 at Paradise Factory

The New York premiere of the late award-winning playwright Oni Faida Lampley's play Tough Titty, a poignant and funny exploration of what comes next for a Brooklyn mother diagnosed with breast cancer, will be presented next month by actress/producer Ami Brabson (Homicide: Life on the Street, Law & Order: SVU, Damages) & her husband, Emmy and Obie Award-winning actor Andre Braugher (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Homicide: Life on the Street, Law & Order, Glory, City of Angels). Lydia Fort will direct. The play premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and made Lampley a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award.

Sanaa Lathan to Lead BY THE WAY, MEET VERA STARK at Geffen Playhouse; Full Cast Announced!

Stage and screen star Sanaa Lathan (A Raisin in the Sun, Contagion) returns to the title role in Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage's By the Way, Meet Vera Stark for its West Coast premiere at the Geffen Playhouse. Lathan, who originated the character of Vera Stark in the critically acclaimed New York run, will once again take the stage as the 1930's era maid turned movie star, reunited with original cast member Kimberly Hebert Gregory (Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer) reprising her role as fellow aspiring African American actress Lottie. Broadway vet and Geffen alum Merle Dandridge (Spamalot, Rent, Aida) will take on the spicy role of Anna Mae, who fakes a Brazilian accent for a slice of fame, and former leading lady of ABC's Man Up, Amanda Detmer, will portray Gloria Mitchell, the white starlet dubbed "America's little sweetie pie" and Vera's first employer. Helmed by award-winning director Jo Bonney, the West Coast premiere cast also features Kevin Carroll (Paid in Full, Being John Malkovich), Spencer Garrett (Iron Man 3, Air Force One) and Geffen alum Mather Zickel (Extraordinary Chambers, Rachel Getting Married).

A.R.T. to Include BOB, BECKETT SHORTS, et al. in 2011-12 Season

The American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater Institute for Advanced Theater Training begins the 2011-2012 Season with Oni Faida Lampley's Tough Titty, directed by Benny Sato Ambush, and performed by the Institute Class of 2012. The production runs October 2, 21, 22, and 27 at 7:30pm at the A.R.T.'s Zero Church Street Performance Space, corner of Church Street and Mass. Ave, Harvard Square, Cambridge.

Helen Merrill Playwriting Awards Announced 9/26

The Helen Merrill Playwriting Award Ceremony will be held Monday, September 26, 2011, 5:30pm - 7:30pm (Awards given at 6:15pm) at the Algonquin Hotel, 59 West 44th Street.
