This week saw the premieres of not one, but two of the biggest entertainment extravaganzas currently on show in the vast TV landscape, both on Fox - the season two debut of the reinvented reboot of the reality singing competition show THE X FACTOR (with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato as new judges), as well as the season four premiere of the returning, albeit re-jiggered, half-NYC-set GLEE (with a memorable Kate Hudson, and, also, Sarah Jessica Parker joining next week). While one may have been more successful than the other in pulling off its grand switcheroo (especially insofar as overall transitional smoothness, THE X FACTOR really seems to be finding its voice, pardon the puns), the sheer enjoyment levels achieved by each was enough to make both recommendable and worthy of review given their intrinsic ties to the performing arts realm and their exploration, exhibition and employment of the titular x factor. Individuals with that oh-so-unmistakable allure were on ample display both on THE X FACTOR and GLEE, making both properties once again worth revisiting each week this year, like last year - look no further than jaw-dropping X FACTOR audition of Carly Rose Sonenclar for clear-cut proof of that. Plus, next week, THE X FACTOR and GLEE shall share a similar theme when GLEE gets 1,2,3 (or, more to the point: 5,6,7,8) with a second Britney Spears tribute, "Britney 2.0"

Radio Disney and Disney Channel will introduce the 'N.B.T.' (Next BIG Thing) season five artists when the popular musical talent competition premieres during the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie 'Girl Vs. Monster' on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT), and throughout the day on Radio Disney.

Hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, the '2012 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS also featured performances by Frank Ocean, who sang 'Thinkin About You', Rihanna who performed 'Cockiness' and 'We Found Love', One Direction singing 'One Thing' and Taylor Swift with her new single, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.' MTV today announced that the '2012 MTV Video Music Awards' will feature 90 seconds of exclusive footage from the final installment of Summit Entertainment's THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN - PART 2 during its LIVE telecast from STAPLES Center on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. MTV announced international sensation and five-time 2012 VMA nominee, Rihanna will heat up the 'MTV Video Music Awards' stage with a performance like never before, LIVE from STAPLES Center tonight, September 6 at 8:00pm ET/PT.

With the show just a few days away, MTV announced new additions to the performance line-up for the '2012 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS including Rihanna kicking off the VMAs with A$AP Rocky, Nicki Minaj will perform as a surprise guest with a previously announced VMA artist, 2 Chainz taking the VMA stage for the first time ever, and Lil Wayne with the worldwide premiere performance of his brand new single.

One Direction took the US by storm earlier this year with the release of their debut album UP ALL NIGHT, making history as the first-ever UK band to debut at No. 1 on the US Billboard chart. UP ALL NIGHT is currently the top selling debut album of 2012. On August 20, 2012, Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa held a special preview event to highlight its upcoming Broadway Series for the 2012 - 2013 Season.
