London is never short of temptations, whether splashy West End shows, epic dramas or bold fringe offerings. BWW Review: POET IN DA CORNER, Royal Court

Many years ago a young girl was given an album that would go on to change her life. It would form the foundations of the woman she'd grow up to be. It'd take her from being a dyslexic struggling to write, to an absolute powerhouse spitting words on the main stage of the Royal Court. poet in da corner is the story of Debris Stevenson.

Casting Announced For POET IN DA CORNER At The Royal Court Theatre

In the semi-autobiographical Poet in da Corner poet, lyricist, and dancer Debris Stevenson explores how grime helped shape her youth. Debris and previously announced writer and performer Jammz will be joined by Cassie Clare and Kirubel Belay.

BWW Review: TWILIGHT: LOS ANGELES, 1992, Gate Theatre

In 1992 Anna Deavere Smith interviewed a selection of people who were, in some way, involved with the LA riots. In total, 300 people were spoken to, and the actor and playwright then turned this compilation into her verbatim-style play, Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992. Ola Ince's production has taken 19 of the original interviews, and all are brought to life by Nina Bowers.

Full Cast Announced For Ellen McDougall's Inaugural Production As Artistic Director THE UNKNOWN ISLAND at Gate Theatre

Ellen McDougall today announced the full cast for The Unknown Island, her inaugural production of Artistic Director of Gate Theatre.  She directs Jon Foster, Hannah Ringham, Thalissa Teixera and Zubin Varla in the adaptation of Nobel Prize winner Jose Saramago's short story which opens on 18 September, with previews from 11 September, running until 7 October. 

BWW Interview: Director Sean Holmes On Reviving SHOPPING AND F***ING

Sean Holmes has been Artistic Director of the Lyric Hammersmith since 2009. Memorable productions during his bold and varied tenure include Three Kingdoms, Saved, Bugsy Malone, Ghost Stories, the Secret Theatre programme, and the Olivier Award-winning Blasted. Next up is a revival of Mark Ravenhill's provocative Shopping and F***ing.

Donmar Warehouse's All-Female THE TEMPEST Begins Tonight at King's Cross

Singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading will compose original music for Phyllida Lloyd's forthcoming production of The Tempest. The songs will be set to Shakespeare's words in the Donmar's new all-female production which starts performance from tonight 23rd September.

Theatre Royal Stratford East Sets New Season

Artistic Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East, Kerry Michael today announces the theatre's forthcoming season launching this September. The season opens with Counting Stars by award-winning playwright Atiha Sen Gupta which will transform the stage into a studio format nightclub installation for this funny yet heart-breaking tale directed by Associate Director at Stratford East, Pooja Ghai.

BUGSY MALONE returns to the Lyric Hammersmith for a limited 12-week run following the critically acclaimed, Olivier-nominated 2015 production. Starring a diverse range of talented young performers aged nine and over, the lead roles are being performed by three different casts in rotation. Several members of 2015 production are returning, alongside talented youngsters making their professional debut. Finborough Presents RACHEL, First Play By An African American Woman Ever Produced, Beginning Tonight

Rediscovered by Finborough Theatre Artistic Director Neil McPherson, Rachel is a genuinely lost landmark of American theatre -- the first play by an African American woman ever produced professionally. Directed by exciting young director Ola Ince, as part of Black History Month, the European premiere of Rachel opens at the multi award-winning Finborough Theatre for a four week limited season tonight, 30 September 2014 (Press Night: Thursday, 2 October at 7.30pm).
