Rivendell Theatre Ensemble Announces 2018 Season THE RECKONING

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble proudly announces its 2018 Season, "The Reckoning." The season includes three plays about women who come face to face with an essential truth that threatens to shatter the things they love most. The 2018 Season will be performed at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.

Theater Resources Unlimited Announces TRU PRODUCER BOOT CAMP

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces the workshop Raising Money for Theater: Who, How, and When to Ask, part of TRU Boot Camps on February 4, 2018 from 10am - 6pm at 151 W. 46th St., 8th Floor, NYC. Basic pricing is $175 for non-members, $150 for TRU members with $25 off for early birds, thru 1/26. Discount codes available for anyone who has applied to any of the upcoming festivals, as well as students. Email TRUStaff1@gmail.com with proof of a festival application, or a student ID, and TRU will provide you with a code for $40 or $60 off (for a Festival price of $135 or Student price of $115).

Applications Open For Musical Theatre Writers At Rhinebeck Writers Retreat

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director of Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced applications are open for this summer. Nine musical theatre writing teams will be hosted for 9 consecutive weeklong residencies in the Hudson Valley between July 2 and September 3. All writers are eligible and their musical can be at any stage of development, as long as it has not been published or licensed. Selected writers pay nothing to participate and receive a $500 stipend. All costs are covered by donations to Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, including travel up to $750.  Writers with children are welcomed to apply and Rhinebeck Writers Retreat will accommodate their housing needs. There is no fee for applications received by February 16 and there is a fee of $20 for the final deadline of February 23.  All information, guidelines, and online application can be found at www.rhinebeckwriters.org.

SUGAR IN OUR WOUNDS Receives the 2018 Laurents/Hatcher Award

The Trustees of The Laurents / Hatcher Foundation, Inc. are pleased to announce that SUGAR IN OUR WOUNDS by Donja R. Love is the recipient of the Laurents / Hatcher Foundation Award. Mr. Love will receive $50,000, and Manhattan Theatre Club, who will present the world premiere in June 2018, will receive $100,000 towards the production.

PlayGround's 24th Season 2018 PlayGround Festival of New Works

PlayGround's 2018 season concludes with the PlayGround Festival of New Works from May 10-June 17, 2018 at San Francisco's Potrero Stage, the company's newly-renovated home. Featured in this year's PlayGround Festival are premieres of two PlayGround commissioned full-length plays: BRIGHT SHINING SEA by Julianne Jigour opening on May 16, a co-production with Planet Earth Arts, and SCAPEGOAT by William Bivins opening on May 23, a co-production with Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, both originally developed at the 2016 Festival and highlighting two timely issues. In William Bivins's Scapegoat, one man tests art's ability to create change in the face of another police shooting of an unarmed Black man. In Julianne Jigour's Bright Shining Sea, six characters find their lives intertwined as they face the personal challenges caused by environmental degradation.

Eclipse Theatre Company Announces 2018 Season

Chicago's Eclipse Theatre Company, the only theatre company in the Midwest to focus on a single playwright each season, has announced that they will feature the works of legendary American playwright William Inge for the 26th Anniversary, 2018 Season. Eclipse plans to explore the range of Inge's canon with three full productions, readings, and public events focused on the playwright and his works.
