Actress Vicky McClure's projects include Shane Meadows' This Is England series, Line of Duty and Broadchurch. She's now taking on her first major stage role with Nottingham Playhouse's 40th anniversary production of Stephen Lowe's World War II drama Touched, centring on a family of working-class women during the 100 days between VE Day and VJ Day. It begins previews on 17 February.

They join the previously announced musical theatre stars Sharon D. With Nuffield Southampton Theatres' production of Fantastic Mr Fox about to start its tour at Lyric Hammersmith, Director Sam Hodges today announces casting for the forthcoming production of John Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Grapes of Wrath, adapted by Frank Galati.

The brilliant theatricality of Kneehigh, the innovative United Kingdom-based theater company, will be on display at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts once again when 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips has its Los Angeles premiere.  Based on the beloved book by War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, 946 explores everything we thought we knew about the D-Day landings in this tender musical tale of love and war. Adapted by Morpurgo and Emma Rice, who also directs, 946 is a Kneehigh production presented in association with Birmingham Repertory and Berkeley Repertory Theatres. Performances begin February 9 with the opening on February 10.

Hackney Empire has today announced Cinderella as its 2017 Christmas pantomime. The 2016 production of Sleeping Beauty was seen by audiences from across the globe from countries including Hong Kong, USA, Brazil, Japan and Hawaii but 20% of the audience was from Hackney, an increase of 1% on last year.

59E59 Theaters will host the New York premiere of ALBATROSS by Matthew Spangler and Benjamin Evett and directed by Rick Lombardo. Produced by The Poets' Theatre, Inc. (Arlington, MA) and Michael Seiden, ALBATROSS begins performances on Thursday, January 12 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 12. Press opening is tonight, January 19 at 7:15 PM.
